Estimator Tier 1

Fire Restoration & Reconstruction

Company: Golden Coast Construction & Restoration
Location: Stockton/Modesto and East Bay Area
Compensation: $75,000–$85,000 annually, depending on experience, plus gross profit bonus opportunities
Status: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, with flexibility as project demands require

General Description

The Estimator Tier 1 supports the estimating team while learning the fundamentals of fire restoration, insurance repair estimating, construction methods, scope development, and claim communication. This role is intended for individuals who are new to the industry or have limited estimating experience. During the first year, the emphasis is on training, shadowing, documentation accuracy, software proficiency, and steady progression toward handling routine estimates with supervision.

Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions

Train with estimators on file setup, documentation, sketching, photo capture, and estimate preparation tasks.
Attend site visits, adjuster walks, and client meetings with senior team members to learn field expectations and professional communication.
Learn to identify fire, smoke, soot, demolition, cleaning, and reconstruction scope items under direction.
Support the preparation of estimates, supplements, and change orders in company-approved estimating systems.
Organize job information, maintain clean file documentation, and follow department workflows and turnaround expectations.
Coordinate with project management, drafting/engineering, accounting, and administrative teams to ensure estimate inputs are accurate and complete for repair execution.
Participate in formal and informal training on restoration processes, building materials, job costing, and claim best practices.
Communicate professionally with customers, adjusters, and teammates while representing the company well.
Take ownership of learning goals and demonstrate increasing confidence, speed, and accuracy over time.
Perform other related duties and training as assigned by management.

Education/Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in construction, business, or a related field is helpful but not required.
0–1 years of estimating, restoration, construction, customer service, or administrative experience preferred.
Demonstrated willingness to learn restoration terminology, insurance claim workflows, and estimating systems.
Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn software platforms quickly.
Strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and receptiveness to coaching.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
Ability to pass company background screening and any site-specific access requirements.

Practice safe and efficient work techniques to minimize potential injuries and hazardous conditions
Participate in safety meetings and inspections
Ensure that material areas are kept neat and orderly
Maintain acceptable levels of housekeeping at all times with regard to equipment and assigned work area and/or department

Success profile

Builds a strong foundation in claim management software, structure estimating, and job communication.
Responds well to feedback and steadily reduces the amount of day-to-day supervision required.
Produces reliable support work that improves estimate quality, organization, and completeness.
Progresses from training support into limited ownership of routine claims.
