Encouragement Media Group is seeking a Mid-Level Gift Officer to build meaningful, Christ-centered relationships with our ministry partners. In this role, you’ll manage a portfolio of mid-level donors, cultivating and stewarding relationships through personal calls, meetings, and events, while helping donors experience the Kingdom impact of their generosity. This is a great opportunity for a relationally driven self-starter with a heart for ministry and donor development.
JOB OVERVIEW
The Ability to Share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with Others First and foremost, the Mid-level Officer must be able to effectively minister and communicate to listeners and others in the community the heart of what it means to follow Jesus Christ wholeheartedly. This must come, not simply from head knowledge, but from a vibrant and active daily walk with Jesus Christ as personal Savior.
PROFILE
As with all positions within Encouragement Media Group (EMG), the Mid-Level Gift Officer is known for strong Christian character and a life consistent with EMG's Christian mission and Statement of Faith. This person sets an example for believers and nonbelievers and seeks to live a life above reproach. The Mid-Level Gift Officer demonstrates humility in interactions with all stakeholders, both internally and externally, and recognizes the importance of maintaining the highest level of confidentiality regarding donor and relational information.
This individual must be a self-starter who takes initiative, enjoys developing relationships, and is energized by communicating with ministry partners. The ideal candidate is highly personable, relationally intuitive, persistent, organized, and comfortable initiating conversations with people they may not already know.
This person should possess polished interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate an upbeat, joyful, professional attitude in all interactions with donors, prospective donors, staff, and other stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be able to manage a significant portfolio of relationships while maintaining consistent follow-up, accurate records, and a disciplined schedule.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The primary function of the Mid-Level Gift Officer is to develop deeper relationships with EMG's mid-level ministry partners and create a consistent pipeline of future major-gift relationships. This person will cultivate, qualify, retain, and upgrade donors through meaningful personal engagement, including phone calls, email, text communication, events, and in-person meetings. The Mid-Level Gift Officer will seek to understand each donor's relationship with the ministry, philanthropic interests, engagement, and giving potential while helping donors experience the Kingdom impact being accomplished through their generosity.
A central objective of this position is to identify donors with the capacity and inclination for greater involvement and strategically move appropriate relationships into EMG's major-gift program.
This position will also play an important role in donor recruitment for ministry events, sponsorship development, and identifying new prospective ministry partners.
SCOPE
The Mid-Level Gift Officer is a full-time position requiring flexibility to engage donors when relationship opportunities occur. Normal responsibilities will primarily occur during standard business hours; however, donor meetings, ministry events, concerts, dinners, and other relationship-building opportunities will periodically require evening and weekend availability. Travel for donor meetings, events, and other development activities may be required.

2. Mid-Level Donor Portfolio Management
The Mid-Level Gift Officer will own the strategy and execution of EMG's mid-level donor program.
- Managing a prioritized portfolio of approximately 200–300 mid-level donor relationships, with the highestpotential relationships receiving increased personal attention.
- Developing meaningful relationships with donors primarily in the $1,000–$5,000 annual giving range and other relationships assigned by the Vice President of Development.
- Making consistent personal contact with donors through phone calls, email, text messages, personal correspondence, events, and in-person meetings.
- Learning donors' interests, motivations, history with EMG, communication preferences, and desired level of involvement.
- Developing appropriate cultivation and solicitation strategies for priority donors.
- Communicating gratitude and demonstrating the Kingdom impact made possible through donor generosity.
- Maintaining a consistent rhythm of donor stewardship while identifying opportunities for deeper engagement.
- Working toward high donor retention and increasing annual giving within the assigned portfolio.
3. Donor Qualification, Upgrading & Major-Gift Pipeline Development
A primary objective of this position is to help donors grow in their engagement and generosity while identifying future major-gift relationships.
- Proactively identifying donors with the potential to increase their financial investment in EMG.
- Seeking opportunities to move donors from $1,000-level giving toward $5,000, $10,000, and higher annual commitments when appropriate.
- Identifying donors demonstrating significant financial capacity, engagement, or affinity for the ministry.
- Conducting qualification conversations to better understand donors' interests, involvement, and philanthropic potential.
- Recommending high-potential relationships for transition into a Major Gift Officer or executive development portfolio.
- Working collaboratively with the Vice President of Development and Major Gift Officers to ensure smooth transitions of qualified relationships.
- Continually seeking to develop the next generation of significant EMG ministry partners.
Success in this position is not measured simply by the number of donors contacted, but by the depth of relationships developed and the movement of donors toward greater engagement and generosity.
4. Donor Meetings, Events & Sponsorship Development
- Recruiting donors and prospective donors to EMG cultivation and fundraising events.
- Personally following up with invited guests before and after events.
- Identifying individuals who may benefit from smaller dinners, gatherings, station visits, tours, or other relationship-building opportunities.
- Developing relationships with businesses, churches, community leaders, and prospective ministry partners.
- Identifying and pursuing appropriate sponsorship opportunities in coordination with development leadership.
- Attending EMG-sponsored concerts and events for the purpose of meeting, thanking, and cultivating donors and prospects.
- Scheduling and hosting station tours and other ministry experiences for donors and prospective donors.
- Using events intentionally to generate new relationships, deepen existing relationships, and create appropriate next steps.
The Mid-Level Gift Officer may assist with event-related activities when needed; however, the primary responsibility of this position at events is donor and prospect engagement rather than event logistics or administration.
5. Virtuous CRM & Relationship Intelligence
- Recording meaningful donor interactions in Virtuous in a timely manner.
- Maintaining accurate relationship notes, interests, communication preferences, and other appropriate donor information.
- Establishing and maintaining clear next moves for priority relationships.
- Using Virtuous portfolio tools, workflows, reporting, and available AI capabilities to prioritize donor activity and manage follow-up.
- Identifying donors showing changes in giving behavior, engagement, or potential.
- Maintaining high standards of confidentiality and appropriate stewardship of donor information.
- Participating in regular portfolio reviews with development leadership.
Every priority donor should have a clear answer to three questions: Where is the relationship today? What is the next appropriate move? Who is responsible for making it happen?
6. Fundraising & Performance Accountability
- The Mid-Level Gift Officer will work with the Vice President of Development to establish annual and quarterly goals for the assigned portfolio.
- Portfolio revenue and year-over-year growth.
- Donor retention.
- Number and percentage of donors increasing their giving.
- Meaningful donor contacts and conversations.
- Personal donor meetings.
- New relationships qualified.
- Donors moved into $5,000+ and $10,000+ annual giving.
- Qualified relationships transitioned into major-gift portfolios.
- Sponsorship opportunities identified and secured. Donor and prospect participation in strategic events.
- Timeliness of donor follow-up and CRM documentation.
Activity metrics are important; however, the ultimate objective is relationship and revenue growth that advances EMG's mission.
7. Collaboration & Other Reponsibilities
- Working collaboratively with the Vice President of Development, Major Gift Officers, administrative staff, Marketing, and other ministry departments.
- Participating in development team meetings and portfolio reviews.
- Attending staff meetings, prayer time/devotionals, and other staff functions as assigned
- . Strengthening teamwork, collaboration, alignment, morale, transparency, credibility, and trust throughout the ministry. A
- ssisting with special projects and ministry initiatives as assigned by the Vice President of Development and/or President/CEO.
- Representing Encouragement Media Group professionally and consistently with the organization's mission, values, and Christian witness.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- Experience in fundraising, donor development, sales, account management, business development, ministry development, or another relationship-driven field strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and develop relationships.
- Comfortable making outbound calls and initiating conversations with donors and prospective donors.
- Comfortable discussing financial support and making appropriate requests for increased giving.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and relational judgment.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage multiple relationships and priorities simultaneously.
- Comfortable working toward measurable activity and revenue goals.
- Experience with CRM systems preferred; experience with Virtuous is a plus.
- Comfortable learning and utilizing AI-enabled tools and technology to improve donor engagement and personal productivity.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard business technology.
- Ability and willingness to maintain strict confidentiality regarding donor information.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is not simply an administrator who enjoys talking with donors. This person is a relationship builder who enjoys meeting people, initiating conversations, discovering what motivates them, communicating vision, and inviting them into deeper partnership with the ministry.
They are persistent without being pushy, organized without being rigid, spiritually mature, comfortable discussing generosity, and motivated by seeing relationships deepen over time.
