Full Job Description

Job Overview
The Director of Operations is responsible for the strategic and day-to-day operational leadership of the ophthalmology practice. This role oversees clinical administrative operations, ensuring exceptional patient care, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and staff development. The Director of Operations partners closely with physicians, executive leadership, and department managers to support growth initiatives and achieve organizational goals. The director of Operations will have over sight over analytics and reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

Direct and Oversee Daily Operations RCM, Billing, Clinic Manager, Office Manager
Develop, implement, and monitor operational policies, procedures, and workflows to improve efficiency and patient experience.
Ensure consistent execution of organizational standards across all locations.
Lead process improvement initiatives to optimize patient flow, scheduling, clinical throughout, and resource utilization.

Strategic Planning and Growth

Collaborate with physician leadership and executive management to develop and execute strategic plans.
Support practice new service lines, and operational integration initiatives.
Analyze operational metrics and identify opportunities for growth, efficiency, and improved patient outcomes.

Financial Management

· Develop and manage operational budgets. Monthly reports.

· Monitor revenue cycle performance, productivity metrics, staffing costs, and operating expenses.

· Identify opportunities to improve financial performance while maintaining quality patient care.

· Reconcile deposits, product inventory, payer deposits, IOL’s

· Partner with RCM vendors to achieve accuracy in claims management, denial management,

· AR Aging, Total AR, AR by payer

· Collections

· Project Management

· KPI Reporting

· Monthly Revenue by provider, Productivity

· Premium IOL Utilization

· P&L Statements

Team Leadership and Development

· Recruit, develop, mentor, and evaluate management staff and departmental leaders.

· Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

· Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet patient demand and organizational objectives.

· Lead employee engagement, performance management, and professional development initiatives.

Compliance and Quality Management

· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.

· Maintain adherence to HIPAA, OSHA, Medicare, accreditation, and payer requirements.

· Monitor quality assurance programs and implement corrective actions when necessary.

· Support risk management, patient safety, and infection prevention initiatives.

Clinical and Patient Experience Excellence

· Partner with physicians and clinical leadership to improve patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes.

· Monitor patient access, scheduling efficiency, wait times, and service recovery efforts.

· Implement best practices to enhance the overall patient experience.

Reporting and Analytics

· Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).

· Prepare operational reports and presentations for executive leadership and physician partners.

· Utilize data-driven decision-making to improve organizational performance.

Qualifications

or related field required.
Master's degree (MHA, MBA, or related healthcare field) preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive healthcare operations leadership experience.
Minimum of 3–5 years in a director-level or senior management role.
Experience in ophthalmology required, Minimum 2 years
Ambulatory surgery, multi-specialty physician practice management, or related healthcare setting strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong understanding of ophthalmology practice operations, clinical workflows, and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple departments and locations.
Strong financial acumen, budgeting, and operational analytics skills.
Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and practice management software.
Ability to lead organizational change and continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Physical Requirements

Ability to travel between clinic locations as needed.

Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required.

Reports to: CEO, Practice Owner

Supervise Clinic Managers, Office Manager, Billing Manager

Pay: $80,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
