Full Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE: The Maintenance Coordinator ensures the safety of all parishioners, employees, volunteers, guests, etc. while on Parish properties and ensures that all buildings, systems, grounds, and equipment are operating efficiently and in a manner that helps the church to fulfill its mission. The Maintenance Coordinator will successfully perform light to medium grade regular maintenance and repairs, and when appropriate work with volunteers and/or vendors, under the supervision of the RBGM.

Though not frequent, this position requires flexibility and the ability to respond timely to security alarms, snowstorms, and other facilities matters that occur at times.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Electrical System:

Monitor lights and timers. Change bulbs, fixtures, and timers as needed, as appropriate.
Adjust outdoor lighting timers to conditions for safety and security of buildings and grounds.
Perform minor electrical repairs in accordance with all diocesan policies and procedures, and local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations and in consultation with RBGM.

Plumbing System:

Perform minor plumbing repairs in accordance with all diocesan policies and procedures, and local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
Monitor faucets, drains, sinks, toilets, outdoor spigots, etc. and repair as appropriate and in consultation with RBGM.
Assist RBGM in coordinating inspections, regular maintenance, and repairs as needed with approved vendors.

Heating and Cooling

Monitor thermostats and timers as seasons change.
Inform RBGM when issues arise and perform minor maintenance, as approved by the RBGM.
Assist RBGM in coordinating inspections, regular maintenance, and repairs as needed with approved vendors.

Fire Alarm and Security System

Be the Initial Contact for Security System for alarms and issues – 24hrs/7 days
Assist RBGM in coordinating inspections, regular maintenance, and repairs as needed with approved vendors for the various systems – fire extinguishers, alarms, smoke detectors, etc.

Winter Groundskeeping

Monitor weather for ice and snow and ensure sidewalks are shoveled and salted – Must be available 7 days a week as needed.
Clean equipment after use, perform light maintenance, and coordinate with vendors when necessary to ensure safe and proper functioning of snow blowers.
Maintain appropriate inventory for rock salt or other de-icers.
Assist RBGM in coordinating with vendor and ensure parking lots are plowed and salted as needed and per contract.

Summer Groundskeeping

Assist RBGM in coordinating with vendor to ensure grass is mowed and edged as needed and per contract.
Perform light tree trimming as needed and coordinate with vendors as needed
Trim shrubbery, and maintain gardens – or oversee and coordinate with volunteers
Campus to be walked each week for incidental litter etc.

Cleaning

Assist RBGM in coordinating vendors and/or volunteers to complete regular cleaning and do the cleaning oneself as needed.

Miscellaneous

Responsible for decoration of church grounds for holidays, liturgical celebrations, etc.
Responsible for setting up various rooms for different ministry needs.
Change Mass times on Sign as needed – with daylight savings etc.
Order supplies and pick up as needed (Lowes, VP Supply etc)
At closing walk campus and secure all buildings.

Position Requirements & Physical Capabilities:

Knowledge of general maintenance and repair of equipment
Good organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize job tasks
Work Ethics and Team Work to include the ability to work in a cooperative manner with co-workers and staff
Ability to be available for after hour or emergency calls
Demonstrated ability to carry out maintenance and repair duties in a timely manner
Ability to ascend/descend stairs.
Ability to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
Ability to lift, pull, push and/or reach for objects, sometimes perform repetitive motions.
Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and/or stand while performing work duties.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel or willingness to learn.
Adhere to all Diocesan and Parish policies and procedures and attend mandatory training and staff meetings.
Ability to travel and use personal vehicle (valid New York State Drivers License).
