Payroll & Benefits Specialist

Compensation: $70,000 – $85,000 annually, DOE + Benefits

About Pennbridge Hospitality

Pennbridge Hospitality, LLC is a privately owned hotel management and development company headquartered in Eagle, Idaho. The company currently operates and manages a growing portfolio of nine hotel properties across Idaho, Utah, Colorado, and Arizona, representing $400 million in hospitality assets and employing over 350 team members.

As our organization continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Specialist to strengthen our payroll administration, compliance, and employee benefits functions while supporting a multi-state hospitality operation.

Position Summary

The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will serve as Pennbridge Hospitality’s primary payroll and benefits administrator, responsible for ensuring accurate payroll processing, benefits administration, compliance support, payroll accounting reconciliations, and employee support across a multi-state hotel portfolio.

This role reports directly to the Controller and works closely with the VP of Accounting, General Managers, and corporate leadership to support payroll, benefits, compliance, and employee administration across the Pennbridge portfolio.

This position is ideal for a payroll professional who enjoys ownership, process improvement, compliance oversight, and serving as a trusted resource to both employees and management.

The successful candidate will bring payroll expertise, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement.

Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll Administration

· Process and review payroll for multiple hotel properties and corporate employees.

· Audit payroll previews and reports prior to processing.

· Review payroll deductions, garnishments, benefit elections, and payroll adjustments.

· Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.

· Coordinate payroll approvals and corrections with General Managers and department leaders.

· Process off-cycle payrolls and special payroll transactions as needed.

Benefits Administration

· Administer employee benefit enrollments and changes.

· Coordinate annual open enrollment activities.

· Reconcile benefit deductions against carrier invoices.

· Work directly with insurance brokers and benefit providers.

· Maintain accurate employee benefit records and payroll deductions.

Payroll Accounting & Reconciliations

· Prepare payroll-related journal entries and supporting schedules.

· Reconcile payroll liability accounts and benefit-related balances.

· Assist with month-end and year-end payroll reporting.

· Support accounting staff with payroll-related reporting and analysis.

Compliance & Reporting

· Monitor payroll tax notices, garnishments, and related compliance requirements.

· Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation.

· Assist with payroll audits and year-end reporting processes.

· Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

· Review employee classifications, wage rates, payroll profiles, and accruals for accuracy.

Systems Administration & Process Improvement

· Serve as the primary administrator for payroll system functions.

· Maintain employee payroll records and system data.

· Identify and implement payroll process improvements and efficiencies.

· Develop and maintain payroll procedures, documentation, and internal controls.

Employee & Management Support

· Serve as the primary resource for payroll and benefits-related questions.

· Support employees and managers with payroll, deductions, and benefits inquiries.

· Provide guidance regarding payroll procedures, benefit programs, and payroll best practices.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications

· Minimum three (3) years of payroll administration experience.

· Experience processing payroll for organizations with 150+ employees.

· Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations, deductions, garnishments, and benefits administration.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting.

· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

· Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, but not required.

· Hospitality industry experience.

· Multi-state payroll experience.

· Paycom experience strongly preferred.

· Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.

· Experience administering employee benefit programs.

Work Environment

This position is based full-time in Pennbridge Hospitality’s corporate office located in Eagle, Idaho, near the intersection of State Street and Eagle Road. This is an in-office position and is not intended to be fully remote.
