Full Job Description

The Machinist Group is a custom job-shop environment; high-mix, low-volume custom work for our parent company, Thermal Technology, and a healthy combination of other customers from many different fields including defense and aerospace. We are ITAR and ISO certified.

We are currently looking for an experienced CNC Machinist who can demonstrate consistency, accuracy, and attention to detail. We do run multiple shifts at this facility; working Night Shift would qualify for 10% "shift differential" additional pay.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Understand specifications of each assigned task and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, CAD files, programs etc.
Read work order specifications, i.e., material type and size of stock and dimensions to be cut.
Calculate simple dimensions, for the piece and confirm precise measurements.
Set up and operate CNC Mills
Load and unload raw material and finished parts.
Run proven programs and make basic offset and wear adjustments
Monitor machine performance and part quality during production
Identify and report tooling issues, machine problems, or poor-quality concerns
Maintain clean and organized work area (5s mindset)
Perform in-process and final inspections using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, etc.
Perform some hand operations, such as deburring of the final pieces or light secondary use of the drill press.
Follow all safety, quality, and shop procedures

Qualification and Skills:

A High School diploma or equivalent is recommended.
A certificate or diploma in mathematics, engineering, or industrial arts discipline is a plus.
Proven experience as a machinist; >5 years
Comfortable adjusting tool and work offsets
Basic understanding of feeds, speeds, and tooling
Ability to use a variety of precision measuring tools correctly
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Ability to lift up to 50Ibs and stand for extended periods
Strong organizations skills and ability to juggle competing priorities.
Ability to maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in tight-tolerance machining
Rational troubleshooting skills
