Patient Access Assistant – full time, Christiansburg Center

The Community Health Center of the New River Valley is seeking a full-time (40 hours) front office assistant in its Christiansburg office.

The hours Monday and Tuesday from 8am-4:30pm; and Wed-Friday from 10:30am-7pm and every 6thSaturday morning.

This position is the first to encounter patients and must do so enthusiastically – greeting them with courtesy, respect, and positive communication. This role is responsible for the registration of incoming patients in a prompt manner to avoid delays in arrival time and to ensure a swift check-in process. This position is also responsible for verifying patient demographics and insurance coverage and making changes as necessary, collecting patient payments, scheduling appointments, and answering the phone.

Qualifications: – at least 1 year of experience in a medical office environment; High School degree, or equivalent combination or education and experience.

Benefits include: 160 hours of paid time off annually, PLUS 13 paid holidays; comprehensive benefit package; retirement match; cell phone discount, learning and training opportunities; annual staff culture-building events. Hourly range starts at $18.50.

The Community Health Center of the New River Valley is a 501c3 non-profit organization that is committed to providing affordable and high quality medical, dental, behavioral, and preventative health care services to people of all ages, regardless of ability to pay or insurance status.
