Overview: We are seeking a skilled Technician to contribute to our assembly and installation operations. This dynamic role involves assembling/installing cutting-edge packaging. Travel requirements range from approximately 20% to 70%. Whether working in-house or in the field, you will engage with advanced packaging technologies, including robotics, servos, and vision systems. Core responsibilities include performing precise mechanical and electrical assemblies, troubleshooting issues, and executing seamless installations to ensure peak machine performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and follow mechanical and electrical schematics to assemble and install packaging machinery using powered and hand tools.
- Lead/assist in the installation and rigging of packaging machinery at customer sites, including unloading and securing equipment from shipping containers.
- Set up pneumatic and hydraulic lines, performing basic machine modifications such as fabrication and welding to meet project specifications.
- Review and organize lists of electrical and mechanical components required for assembly, ensuring accuracy and readiness.
- Inspect and modify parts as needed using techniques like drilling, tapping, grinding, reaming, and welding to ensure proper fit and function.
- Operate forklifts, lulls, and other material handling equipment to safely move large components or pallets of parts.
- Align and secure machine components with bolts, screws, or other appropriate hardware, maintaining precision and quality standards.
- Assemble and install moving parts, such as gears, shafts, motors, and bearings, ensuring proper operation of all components.
- Install, label, and route tubing for pneumatic systems while ensuring compliance with design specifications.
- Route and organize wiring on machinery, in cable trays, and within electrical cabinets, ensuring proper terminations and a clean layout.
- Conduct functional and continuity tests on electrical assemblies using tools like ohmmeters and test lights to verify operational integrity.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in assembling, installing, or servicing end-of-line packaging and automation equipment.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues efficiently.
Required Technical Proficiency:
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, including troubleshooting and implementing modifications.
- Experience with electromechanical systems, including wiring, crimping, and conducting functional and continuity tests.
- Proficiency with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including line setup and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with material handling equipment, such as forklifts and lulls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation, reporting, and communication.
- Bonus skillset: Experience with VFD configuration/programming and Siemens or Allen-Bradley PLCs (RS Logix 5000, SLC & PLC 500 & motion control
