Sous Chef – Crimson & Banquets

Location: The Wildbirch Hotel, Anchorage, AK
Compensation: $65,000 -$75,000 annually

About the Role

The Wildbirch Hotel is seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to support culinary operations for Crimson, our signature restaurant, while also assisting with banquet and events production. This role is ideal for a hands-on culinary leader who thrives in a dynamic, multi-outlet environment and enjoys mentoring kitchen staff while maintaining high standards of food quality and consistency.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations for Crimson, including food prep, plating, and service execution
Assist with planning and executing banquet and catering events, ensuring timely and consistent food production
Supervise, train, and mentor line cooks and kitchen staff across shifts
Maintain food safety, sanitation, and health code compliance
Monitor food cost, portion control, and waste reduction
Assist with menu development, recipe standardization, and seasonal specials
Ensure kitchen equipment is properly maintained and inventory is managed
Step in as manager-on-duty in the kitchen when the Executive Chef is unavailable
Foster a positive, collaborative kitchen culture

Qualifications

3+ years of experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Line Cook in a full-service restaurant or hotel setting
Banquet/catering experience strongly preferred
Culinary degree or equivalent hands-on experience
Alaska Food Worker Card required (or ability to obtain)
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
