Full Job Description

Tax & Accounting Associate (Growth Track to Senior)
Location: Schoharie, NY (In-person with flexibility over time)

We are a growing accounting firm based in Schoharie, NY, working with small businesses, individuals, and municipal clients. We are looking for a hands-on Tax & Accounting Associate who wants to grow into a senior role over time.

This is a practical, work-focused role — not corporate accounting or audit. The work includes tax preparation, bookkeeping cleanup, payroll, and direct client interaction.

What You’ll Do:

Prepare individual and business tax returns (1040, 1120S, 1065)
Perform bookkeeping and cleanup of client records
Handle payroll and related filings
Work directly with clients to resolve accounting and tax issues
Support municipal accounting and budgeting (training provided)

What We’re Looking For:

3–5 years of hands-on experience in tax or accounting
Experience with QuickBooks (Desktop or Online)
Ability to independently prepare individual returns (1040) and assist with business returns (1120S/1065)
Ability to work through messy or incomplete records
Strong attention to detail and ownership mindset

Location Requirement:
This role requires working from our Schoharie office, especially in the initial months. Flexibility increases over time based on performance.

Compensation:
$60,000 – $70,000 depending on experience, with clear growth opportunities.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to build real-world accounting experience and grow into a senior position over time.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
