Full Job Description

Tavery Freight is a small, close-knit freight forwarding company in Allentown, NJ, specializing in trade show and event freight. We primarily handle domestic ground and air shipments for a diverse client base, and demand for international trade show shipping — particularly to Puerto Rico, Canada and Europe — is growing fast. We're looking for an Operations Coordinator with international freight experience to join our operations team and help us build out that side of the business.

We're a flat, no-titles team where everyone is cross-trained to handle shipments from start to finish. You'll have your own focus areas, but around here everyone can step in anywhere, and we all pitch in to get freight where it needs to be.

What You'll Do

Book, route, and track domestic ground/air and international shipments alongside our operations team
Bring international shipping expertise to the team — especially temporary imports/exports and ATA Carnets — and help guide others on international documentation and compliance
Manage shipments against hard trade show deadlines, where must-arrive dates are non-negotiable and proactive problem-solving is the job
Communicate daily with clients, carriers, and vendors — you'll often be a first point of contact
Prepare and review shipping documentation (booking confirmations, HAWBs/HBLs, Carnets, customs paperwork)
Track shipments proactively and flag delays or issues before they become client-facing problems
Provide responsive customer service, including occasional after-hours email/phone coverage as part of a 24-hour operation
Learn our systems, carriers, and client accounts well enough to operate independently within a few months

What We're Looking For

Hands-on experience with international freight — booking, documentation, and compliance basics (EEI/AES filing, customs paperwork)
Sharp attention to detail — shipping documents and compliance leave no room for guessing
Strong written and verbal communication — you'll be talking with clients and carriers every day
Comfort working against hard deadlines — trade show freight either makes the show or it doesn't
A self-starter who takes ownership without needing to be told twice
Someone reliable, punctual, and accountable — we're a small shop, and every person's follow-through matters
Comfortable wearing multiple hats in a small-team environment

No domestic freight experience? Not a problem. If you're solid on international, we're confident you'll pick up domestic ground and air booking quickly, and we'll get you up to speed on our carriers, clients, and systems.

Bonus Points For

Trade show, exhibition, or event freight experience (advance warehouses, marshaling yards, must-arrive dates, show site logistics)
ATA Carnet and temporary import/export experience — this is central to how our international work runs
Experience shipping to Puerto Rico, Canada or Western Europe (Netherlands, France, UK, Germany) — our three main international lanes
Familiarity with freight booking platforms or forwarding software
Having helped a smaller operation build out or grow its international capability
