People & Operations Manager (Hospitality)

William Penn Inn | Lower Gwynedd, PA | Full-time, Monday through Friday

If you're a restaurant, banquet, or hotel manager who loves this industry but is tired of closing on Saturdays and missing every holiday, this is the job you've been waiting for.

The William Penn Inn is hiring a People & Operations Manager. You'd take everything you already know about running a hospitality team and apply it to the people side of the business: hiring, onboarding, training, and keeping a 100+ person staff supported and running well.

About us

The William Penn Inn has been operating since 1714, making us the oldest continuously operating inn in the country. We're a family-owned property doing fine dining, weddings and banquets, a bakery, takeout, and four guest rooms. We're in the middle of a significant growth period, and this role is central to it.

What you'd own

Hiring and onboarding
Run the hiring process end to end: postings, screening, scheduling interviews, and coordinating tryouts with department heads
Onboard every new hire, from paperwork through orientation
Work with the Culinary Director, dining room managers, and banquet team to keep every department properly staffed
Employee support
Be the person staff come to with questions, concerns, and issues
Support managers on coaching conversations, performance reviews, and documentation
Help translate and communicate across a bilingual team
Administration and compliance
Maintain employee records and HR files
Assist with portions of payroll (payroll is processed in-house; you'd support it, not own it)
Administer benefits enrollment and answer employee benefits questions
Keep us compliant on wage and hour, OSHA, and employment documentation
Handle workers' compensation and unemployment claims
Training and culture
Coordinate training programs across departments
Build out recognition and retention initiatives
Help us keep good people
Community and visibility (light)
Help keep our social media presence active, especially around hiring, staff, and community involvement
Serve as a point of contact for local organizations, chambers, and community partners

Who this is right for

You've run a restaurant, banquet department, hotel front office, or club. You know what a Saturday night feels like, you know why a line cook quits, and you know how to talk to a 19-year-old busser and a 30-year veteran chef on the same shift.

You're organized, comfortable with technology, and you actually like the administrative side of the work.

Formal HR experience is a plus, not a requirement. If you've been the one at your property who handled the hiring, the paperwork, the scheduling, and the employee issues, you've already been doing most of this job.

Spanish is a real plus. A significant part of our team is Spanish-speaking, and being able to communicate directly makes a large difference.

What we're not looking for

This is an in-person role at a working inn. You'd be on property, around the team, in the building. If you're looking for a remote or primarily work-from-home position, this isn't it.

Schedule and compensation

$50,000 - $60,000, depending on experience
Monday through Friday, days, on property
Occasional evenings or weekends for a hiring event, a job fair, or a major property event. Not every week, and not on a line schedule.
