Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Food Services Director to oversee and coordinate food service operations within a healthcare or assisted living environment. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of food management, nutrition, and health regulation policies, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality dining experiences that meet residents' or patients' dietary needs. This role involves managing food service teams, ensuring compliance with health codes, and supporting the development of care plans related to nutrition and dietary requirements. The Assistant Food Services Director will play a vital role in fostering a safe, efficient, and patient-centered food service operation.

Responsibilities

Assist in managing daily food service operations, including meal preparation, presentation, and service delivery to ensure quality standards are met.
Supervise and manage food service teams, providing leadership, training, and performance evaluations to promote teamwork and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with all health regulation policies, including food safety management and health code adherence across the dietary department.
Collaborate with clinical staff to develop and implement care plans that incorporate nutritional needs and dietary restrictions for residents or patients.
Oversee inventory control, budgeting, and food production processes to optimize resources while maintaining high standards of nutrition and safety.
Monitor patient assessment data and utilize electronic health records (EHR) systems to tailor meal plans based on individual health conditions such as tube feeding or acute care requirements.
Implement food safety protocols and conduct regular training sessions on food handling, hygiene practices, and regulatory updates.
Support diagnostic evaluation processes related to nutrition status and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives within the dietary department.

Skills

Extensive experience in food service management within assisted living or healthcare settings.
Strong knowledge of health regulation policies, including food service health code compliance and food safety management.
Proven ability to supervise and manage food production teams effectively while fostering a collaborative work environment.
Familiarity with clinical nutrition principles, dietetics, physiology, and care plan development for diverse patient populations.
Experience with budget management, inventory control, and resource allocation in a dietary or food service context.
Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records related to nutrition assessments and care plans.
Excellent leadership skills combined with effective communication abilities tailored to team management and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Knowledge of acute care practices, tube feeding procedures, and diagnostic evaluation techniques relevant to nutritional assessment.
