Full Job Description

Help Create Programs and Experiences That Connect Our Community

The Anchorage Museum is a museum of people, place, planet, and potential. Through exhibitions, education, storytelling, art, science, history, and community engagement, we create experiences that connect people to Alaska, the North, and the ideas shaping our future.

As the Programs Support Specialist, you will help bring Museum programs, events, and learning experiences to life through coordination, logistics, and administrative support. Working closely with staff, instructors, and community partners, you'll help ensure programs run smoothly and create welcoming experiences for participants.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys organization, collaboration, problem-solving, and supporting meaningful work behind the scenes.

What You'll Do

Program Coordination

Support the planning and administration of public programs, classes, camps, workshops, and events
Coordinate registrations, participant communications, schedules, and program records
Maintain program documentation, databases, and reporting information
Help track timelines and support successful program delivery

EventLogistics Support

Coordinate materials, supplies, equipment, and room reservations
Assist with event setup, breakdown, and day-of logistics
Work with Museum departments and community partners to ensure program readiness
Help resolve logistical challenges and support smooth operations

ParticipantCommunity Engagement

Serve as a welcoming point of contact for participants, instructors, and partners
Respond to questions and provide information about Museum programs
Support participant registration and attendance tracking
Help create positive, accessible, and inclusive experiences for diverse audiences

TeamOperational Support

Collaborate with colleagues across the Museum to support program goals
Assist with purchasing, invoices, and budget tracking
Support improvements to administrative processes and workflows
Contribute to a collaborative and service-oriented team culture

Experience providing administrative, event, program, or operational support
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database or registration systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
A customer-service mindset and commitment to welcoming diverse audiences
Flexibility to occasionally support evening or weekend programs and events
