Area Sales Engineer, Industrial Distribution

Status: Regular, Full-Time Position

Summary

Hitachi Industrial Equipment & Solutions America LLC is seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented Sales Engineer to drive the growth of Hitachi AC Inverter products within the industrial automation market. This role is responsible for expanding sales through existing and newly developed OEMs, system integrators, and industrial distribution partners while increasing market share, strengthening customer relationships, and executing strategic growth initiatives within the assigned territory.

Key Responsibilities

· Drive revenue growth and increase market share for Hitachi AC Inverter products by developing new business opportunities and expanding existing OEM and industrial distributor relationships.

· Develop and execute territory sales strategies aligned with corporate growth objectives and market opportunities.

· Identify, recruit, develop, and support OEMs, system integrators, and distribution partners to maximize geographic coverage and market penetration.

· Conduct customer visits, technical presentations, product demonstrations, and application reviews to support distributors and OEM partners throughout the sales process.

· Develop technical proposals, product specifications, and value-based solutions that address customer application requirements.

· Collaborate with distributors and OEM partners to develop accurate sales forecasts, pipeline visibility, and inventory planning.

· Maintain a healthy sales pipeline by documenting customer opportunities, quotations, and win/loss analyses within the company's CRM system.

· Monitor market trends, competitive products, pricing strategies, and emerging technologies, providing actionable market intelligence to management and global product teams.

· Prepare timely territory reports detailing sales activity, customer feedback, competitive developments, and business opportunities.

· Identify opportunities for product enhancements, new product introductions, and application improvements based on customer and market feedback.

· Represent the company at trade shows, customer events, technical seminars, and industry associations to strengthen the Hitachi brand and generate new business opportunities.

· Participate in sales meetings, product training, and cross-functional initiatives while supporting strategic projects assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Mechanical Engineering (BSME), Computer Science (BSCS), or a related technical discipline preferred; equivalent education and relevant industry experience will also be considered.

· Minimum of five (5) years of technical sales experience in industrial automation, motion control, variable frequency drives (VFDs), or related industrial control technologies.

· Demonstrated ability to develop OEM, distributor, and end-user relationships while consistently achieving or exceeding sales objectives.

· Strong understanding of industrial automation systems, motor control applications, and variable frequency drive technologies.

· Experience with PLC programming, industrial communication networks, or automation software is preferred.

· Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation skills.

· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and customer opportunities simultaneously.

· Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.

· Ability to travel up to 60% within the assigned territory as business needs require.
