Full Job Description

Philosophy

a) Supports the center’s ideology, mission, goals, and objectives

b) Performs in accordance with the center’s policies and procedures

c) Follows the center’s standards for ethical business conduct

d) Conducts self as a positive role model and team member

e) Recognizes patients’ rights and responsibilities and supports them in performance of job duties

f) Participates in center committees, meetings, in-services, and activities

g) Exercises safe judgment in decision making

h) Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to change

i) Responds in a positive manner to constructive criticism

j) Demonstrates tact and understanding when dealing with patients, team members, member s of other disciplines, and the public

k) Practices within ethical and legal guidelines

Safety/risk-management program

a) Adheres to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities

b) Reports observed or suspected safety violations, hazards, and policy/procedure noncompliance to the safety officer or other designated person

c) Provides for patient safety throughout the perioperative and intraoperative experience

d) Operates mechanical and electrical equipment correctly

e) Escorts or transports patient safely

f) Provides for the safety of oneself and other members of the team

g) Correctly disposes of sharps

h) Correctly handles hazardous and contaminated materials

i) Demonstrates knowledge of fire safety

j) Demonstrates knowledge of the facility disaster plan

Procedure Room

a) Prepares room and equipment based on patient needs

b) Accurately enters documentation into EMR

c) Acquires supplies and equipment needed for procedure

d) Assists the MD during procedures and safely and accurately collects pathology and lab samples

e) Test equipment function and reports any malfunction to Materials Manager

f) Implements house cleaning task necessary for sanitation

g) After the procedure, cleans room and restocks supplies as appropriate for the next procedure or end of the day

Processing of Instruments and Equipment

a) Maintains a clean and orderly central processing area

b) Adheres to disinfection process policies and procedures

c) Maintains accurate records for scope reprocessing, manual disinfection, AER filter changes of equipment

d) Cleans each item according to manufacturer’s instructions

e) Chooses appropriate items for disinfection

f) Chooses appropriate agent(s) for disinfection

g) Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique

h) Demonstrates appropriate decontamination of equipment after use

i) Implements house cleaning task necessary for sanitation

_ Infection Control_

a) Wears appropriate attire according to facility policy

b) Follows universal precautions

c) Uses gowns and gloves according to policy

d) Practices recognized principles of cleanliness and sanitation

Qualifications

1. Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians

2. Ability to promote favorable center image with physicians, patients, insurance companies, and general public

3. Ability to make decisions and solve problems

4. Ability to read, write and communicate

Requirements

Required

1. High school diploma or GED certificate

2. Active BLS Certification

3. Strong ethical and moral character references

Preferred

Instrument processing technician experience

ASC experience
