Full Job Description

Brooks Howell – a small private pay continuing Care Retirement Community is looking for an energetic staff member to join our Food Service team as a Cook. This position will primarily work the day shift and every other weekend is required.

Summary: Cooks are responsible for scheduled menu preparation of all meal items that are served to residents and employees. Meals will be prepared and served according to diet orders at specific meal times. Team members are encouraged to participate in menu creation based on skill and resident likes and dislikes. The team member is expected to interact with the residents in a caring and professional manner at all times.

Responsibilities

The kitchen is open 7 days a week. The cook is expected to be available for rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends. Additional hours may be scheduled as required.

Ability to operate various kitchen equipment, including learning new equipment as it is acquired.

Responsible for following food safety protocol, including time and temperature requirements.

Required to clean your work area, wash some dishes, plate food, and read and prepare diet orders.

As well as other duties assigned by the Kitchen Supervisor and/or Food Service Director.

Requirements

Prior food service experience preferred.

High School diploma and/or (GED) desired

Two years of food preparation experience preferred.

Some knowledge of a variety of foods, their preparation and serving.

Basic knowledge of sanitary methods to be used in food preparation; knowledge of safety precautions and procedures in cooking and cooling food.

Must be able to understand written and oral instructions.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
