Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Polysomnography Technician to join our sleep medicine team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in sleep studies, respiratory therapy, and patient care, with a focus on conducting diagnostic evaluations for sleep-wake disorders. This role involves operating polysomnography equipment, monitoring sleep studies, and ensuring accurate data collection to support effective treatment plans. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to patient health outcomes in a dynamic clinical environment.

Duties

Prepare patients for sleep studies by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort during testing sessions.
Operate polysomnography (PSG) monitoring equipment to record brain activity (electroencephalography), vital signs, respiratory parameters, and other physiological data during sleep studies.
Monitor patients throughout the sleep study, adjusting equipment as necessary and documenting any events or abnormalities observed.
Perform manual scoring of sleep tests to identify sleep stages, respiratory events, limb movements, and other relevant phenomena.
Maintain and calibrate polysomnography and respiratory therapy equipment such as CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) and BiPAP (Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure) machines.
Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to interpret data and assist in diagnostic evaluations for sleep disorders.
Document patient information accurately within electronic health records (EHR) systems while adhering to confidentiality standards.
Assist with physical examinations related to sleep health assessments and provide patient education on sleep hygiene and treatment options.

Skills

Proficiency in operating polysomnography (PSG) monitoring equipment and respiratory therapy devices such as CPAP and BiPAP machines.
Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and sleep medicine principles.
Experience working with individuals diagnosed with sleep-wake disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea or narcolepsy.
Ability to perform manual scoring of sleep studies accurately and efficiently.
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EHR) management systems for documentation purposes.
Knowledge of electroencephalography (EEG), vital signs monitoring, and diagnostic evaluation techniques related to sleep studies.
Basic life support certification to ensure patient safety during procedures.
Excellent patient care skills with compassionate communication abilities in a clinical setting.
