Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our dynamic finance team. This paid internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of accounting, including financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and the use of leading accounting software. As an integral part of our organization, you will support the preparation of financial statements, assist with account reconciliations, and contribute to maintaining accurate financial records. This role is perfect for individuals eager to develop their financial acumen and build a solid foundation in corporate accounting practices.

Responsibilities

Assist with general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Support the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
Participate in accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, ensuring timely processing and accurate record-keeping.
Help with bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis to monitor financial health.
Contribute to regulatory reporting requirements, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance and other governmental or non-profit accounting standards such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit).
Gain exposure to technical accounting areas such as debits & credits, accrual accounting, and financial report writing.
Collaborate with team members on auditing procedures, internal controls, and financial analysis projects.
Support budgeting processes, forecasting efforts, and financial management initiatives using accounting software like Sage, Xero, or similar platforms.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a strong academic record.
Basic understanding of financial concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation.
Familiarity with accounting software tools including Sage or Xero is preferred.
Knowledge of GAAP standards and regulatory reporting requirements is advantageous.
Demonstrated interest in areas like corporate finance, public accounting, governmental accounting or non-profit accounting.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data accurately.
Excellent communication skills for financial report writing and interpretation.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
