Job Title: Cake Decorator

Location: 199 State St, Bangor, ME 04401

Job Type: Full-time

Reports To: Head Baker / Pastry Chef

Position Overview:

Frank’s Bake Shop is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Cake Decorator to join our passionate bakery team. As a Cake Decorator, you will be responsible for creating beautifully decorated cakes, cupcakes, and other pastries that meet our high standards for taste, appearance, and quality. The ideal candidate has a creative eye, steady hands, and a love for baking and customer satisfaction. If you enjoy working in a collaborative environment where artistry meets deliciousness, this is the role for you!

Please be aware this is a full time position that includes weekends (Saturdays) No exceptions.

Key Responsibilities:

Decorate custom and standard cakes/cookies according to customer specifications and Franks Bakery standards.
Prepare icings, frostings, fillings, and fondants from scratch or using house recipes only.
Collaborate with customers and team members to create unique, visually appealing cake/cookie designs for all occasions (weddings, birthdays, holidays, etc.).
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the decorating station and all related tools.
Ensure all decorated products meet quality, consistency, and presentation standards.
Manage orders and prioritize decorating tasks based on deadlines.
Support the baking team in preparing base cake layers, cupcakes, and other baked goods as needed.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and handling protocols.
Keep track of inventory related to decorating supplies and communicate restocking needs.
Assist with packaging and presenting finished products for sale or pickup.

Qualifications:

Previous experience as a cake decorator or in a bakery setting.
Proficiency in various decorating techniques including piping, fondant work, and tiered cakes.
Strong artistic ability and attention to detail.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to take creative direction and translate customer ideas into finished designs.
Comfortable working early mornings, weekends, and during holiday seasons.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Positive attitude and a strong sense of teamwork.
