Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Fleet & Driver Manager to lead our transportation operations and ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant movement of goods and personnel. In this pivotal role, you will oversee a diverse fleet of commercial vehicles, coordinate driver schedules, and maintain optimal vehicle performance. Your leadership will drive operational excellence, foster safety awareness, and enhance overall service delivery. This position offers an exciting opportunity to manage a variety of vehicle types—including trucks, buses, forklifts, and specialized equipment—while ensuring adherence to all safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Manage daily fleet operations, including route planning, scheduling, and dispatching.
Safety: Enforce procedures, policies, and safety protocols for all fleet vehicles and drivers. Including but not limited to DOT regulations and laws, federal and state laws, Shamrock’s internal safety protocols and procedures, and Shamrock’s driver and vehicle policies.
Ensure compliance with D.O.T., OSHA, EPA, and all federal and state regulations, as well as company rules and policies. Monitor, train and promote safety in all areas of dispatch.
Oversee driver recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and ongoing development to cultivate a skilled and motivated team.
Ensure all drivers adhere to safety protocols, traffic laws, and company policies through regular coaching and compliance audits.
Coordinate vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections, repairs, and record-keeping to maximize fleet reliability and minimize downtime.
Monitor fuel consumption, optimize routes for efficiency, and implement cost-saving initiatives across the fleet.
Maintain accurate documentation for licensing, permits, insurance requirements, and regulatory compliance related to commercial vehicles.
Foster clear communication among drivers, warehouse staff, clients, and management to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service delivery.

Qualifications

Proven experience in fleet management or transportation coordination within a fast-paced environment.
Strong knowledge of commercial driving regulations, safety standards, and vehicle maintenance practices.
Hands-on experience with various vehicle types including trucks (tractor-trailer, dump truck), buses (school bus driving), forklifts (warehouse experience), tow trucks, flatbeds, tankers, limousines or heavy haul equipment is highly desirable.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead teams effectively and resolve issues promptly.
Mechanical knowledge related to commercial vehicles and heavy equipment operation is a plus.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail in documentation and compliance records.
Valid driver’s license with relevant endorsements; experience with manual transmissions or specialized vehicles such as paratransit or military vehicles is advantageous.
