We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Lead Kennel Technician to join our compassionate animal care team. In this vital role, you will oversee daily kennel operations, ensuring a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for our animals. Your leadership will inspire a team of kennel staff, promote best practices in animal handling and care, and uphold the highest standards of pet welfare. If you’re passionate about animals, possess strong veterinary and customer service skills, and thrive in a fast-paced setting, this is the perfect opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Duties

Must be comfortable working along the owner to learn the role.

Supervise and coordinate daily kennel activities, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring animals’ health and behavior
Lead and mentor kennel staff to ensure adherence to safety protocols, animal handling procedures, and hygiene standards
Assist with dog training activities to promote good behavior and socialization among animals
Handle pet grooming and pet sitting tasks to maintain animals’ comfort and well-being
Restrain animals safely during examinations or treatments using proper restraint techniques
Collaborate with veterinary technicians and assistants to support medical treatments and record keeping
Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners about their animals’ needs and care routines

Requirements

Proven experience in dog handling, pet grooming, or kennel operations with a strong understanding of animal care practices
Veterinary experience or veterinary technician background highly preferred
Knowledge of dog training techniques and animal behavior management
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling large or multiple animals
Excellent animal restraint skills combined with animal handling expertise
Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners
Prior veterinary assistant or kennel experience is advantageous
Demonstrated leadership abilities with a proactive approach to team coordination and problem-solving
