Senior Controller

North Palm Beach, Florida Full-Time Monday–Friday Bonus Opportunity

Leadership opportunity with a private commercial real estate company seeking an experienced CPA to oversee the full accounting function across multiple entities and properties. The Senior Controller will lead financial operations, strengthen controls, supervise accounting staff, and provide timely, accurate reporting to ownership and management.

Position Overview

The Senior Controller is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the company’s accounting and financial reporting. This position will oversee day-to-day accounting, cash management, banking, insurance, property taxes, month-end and year-end close processes, and accounting across multiple companies and bank accounts.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead and oversee all accounting functions for a portfolio of commercial real estate entities and related companies.

· Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial statement preparation.

· Oversee cash management, banking relationships, treasury activity, and multiple operating and ownership accounts.

· Monitor property taxes, insurance, and other significant property-level financial obligations and deadlines.

· Maintain strong internal controls, accounting procedures, documentation, and reporting standards consistent with GAAP.

· Supervise and develop accounting staff, including staff accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.

· Review work product for accuracy and completeness, establish priorities, and ensure deadlines are consistently met.

· Coordinate with outside CPAs, tax advisors, auditors, lenders, insurers, and other professional service providers as needed.

· Provide ownership and management with clear, timely financial reporting, variance explanations, cash-flow visibility, and decision-support information.

· Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reporting quality, controls, efficiency, and use of technology.

Required Qualifications

· Active CPA certification.

· Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including strong GAAP knowledge.

· Commercial real estate accounting experience is required.

· Demonstrated experience managing multiple legal entities, properties, and bank accounts.

· Strong leadership and staff-management capabilities with the ability to hold a team accountable while maintaining a professional work environment.

· Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

· Proactive, self-directed work style with strong judgment, follow-through, and problem-solving skills.

· Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel; Yardi experience is strongly preferred.
