Café Manager (Part-Time) at Café Aurore | Downtown Bozeman, Inside the Baxter Hotel

$20/hour + tips while working customer service shifts
Approximately 33 hours/week

Café Aurore brings authentic French pastries, breads, specialty coffee, and French café culture to the heart of downtown Bozeman. We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized, and hands-on Café Manager to lead the daily operations of our downtown café while providing an outstanding guest experience.

This position begins with our Front of House training program before transitioning into a leadership role. As Café Manager, you will work independently most of the time, taking ownership of the café and ensuring every guest receives exceptional service.

About the Role

This is a leadership position for someone who enjoys wearing many hats. You will spend part of your week working on management responsibilities and the rest leading the café from the front by serving guests as a barista.

You will work closely with the Owner and COO to ensure Café Aurore operates smoothly, efficiently, and consistently every day.

Leadership & Management Responsibilities

Oversee the daily operations of Café Aurore
Manage inventory and place supply orders
Complete grocery runs when needed
Make bank deposits
Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and train new employees
Create and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Build and manage employee schedules
Help execute marketing initiatives and local promotions
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient café
Identify opportunities to improve systems, profitability, and the guest experience
Communicate regularly with the Owner and COO regarding café performance

Guest Experience & Café Operations

Welcome every guest with warmth, professionalism, and hospitality
Prepare and serve espresso drinks, coffee, tea, and other beverages
Take customer orders and process payments accurately
Maintain beautiful pastry displays throughout the day
Answer customer questions and recommend products
Keep the dining room, register, and café spotless
Wash dishes, bus tables, sweep, mop, and take out trash
Follow all food safety and sanitation standards
Deliver an exceptional customer experience every single day

Bakery Logistics

Pick up fresh pastries and baked goods from Aurore French Bakery before opening
Transport products safely to Café Aurore
Open and close the café independently
Return bakery pans to Aurore French Bakery

Schedule

Approximately 33 hours per week

Monday or Tuesday: Management shift (approximately 3 hours)
Friday through Sunday: 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM (approximately)

Year-round position (not seasonal)

Looking for more hours? We'd be happy to schedule one additional shift each week at Aurore French Bakery.

What We're Looking For

Previous leadership or management experience preferred
Barista experience preferred, but we're happy to train the right person
Friendly, outgoing, and passionate about customer service
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated
Comfortable working independently and making decisions
High energy and comfortable in a physically active environment
Coachable and eager to continuously improve
Passionate about French food, coffee, and hospitality
Excellent communication skills
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Prefer a slow-paced work environment
