Part-Time Social Media Content Creator — Entry Level

Love + Chocolate
Walnut Creek, CA
$20 per hour | Approximately 30 hours per month
Part-time | Remote + 2 monthly onsite visits

About Love + Chocolate

Love + Chocolate is a family-owned chocolate shop specializing in high-quality Leonidas Belgian chocolates and other European confections. We have shops in downtown Walnut Creek and Rockridge and an online store that ships nationwide.

We are looking for a creative, dependable person to help maintain and grow our Instagram presence by creating engaging Reels, Stories and feed posts.

This is an entry-level position that could be a great fit for a college student, recent graduate or someone looking to build a portfolio while earning extra income. No professional social media experience or college degree is required. However, you must already have personal, school, club, volunteer or work experience creating appealing short-form videos and other social media content.

What You’ll Do

Plan and create approximately 5 Instagram feed posts per week (Reels, Stories & Feed Posts)
Create original Reels, Stories, photographs and other short-form content
Visit our shops to film products, employees, customers and behind-the-scenes activity
Edit short videos and add appropriate text, music and captions
Write warm, engaging captions that reflect the Love + Chocolate voice
Create content featuring our chocolates, gift ideas, employees, customers and local community
Help plan content for important holidays and gift-giving occasions
Schedule and publish approved content
Respond to routine comments and help engage with our Instagram community
Communicate regularly with the owners about plans, progress and upcoming content needs

What We’re Looking For

You do not need professional social media experience, but you should:

Have experience creating engaging Reels, Stories or posts for a personal, school, club, volunteer or business account
Enjoy filming and editing short-form video
Have a good eye for composition, lighting and visually appealing content
Understand what makes someone stop and watch a Reel
Be able to write clear, friendly and engaging captions
Be comfortable approaching employees and occasionally customers about participating in content
Be organized, dependable and able to manage recurring responsibilities independently
Be receptive to direction and feedback
Be able to plan ahead for content needs and organize 2x monthly in-shop video content sessions with staff and owners
Have a smartphone capable of capturing quality photo and video
Experience with Canva, CapCut, and Instagram or other video editing tools.

Schedule and Work Arrangement

This position averages approximately 30 hours per month, generally six to eight hours per week.

We anticipate approximately two scheduled in-shop content sessions each month. Additional shop visits may occasionally be needed during holidays or special events. Most planning, editing, caption writing and scheduling can be completed remotely.

The schedule is flexible, but the person must be dependable about agreed-upon filming dates and posting deadlines. Some weekend availability may occasionally be helpful, particularly during holiday seasons.

Please note: This position is approximately 30 hours per month, not 30 hours per week.
