Full Job Description

Job Title: Day Play Attendant

Reports To: Day Play Coordinator

FLSA Status: Non-exempt (hourly) Starting pay $16.00 - $17.00 commensurate with experience.

Location: Webster, NY

Hours: Position is a full time or part time, generally 20-40 hours/week.

Full Time or Part Time available.

At least 1 year of professional animal handling experience is strongly preferred.

At least 1 year of professional customer service experience strongly preferred.

Essential Functions

Comfortable working around all sizes and energy levels of dogs.
Work in collaboration with all other staff to ensure that TVA supports the delivery of high quality care to TVA patients.
Communicate with clients, as requested, clearly and accurately regarding their stay

Primary Areas of Responsibility:

Maintain a safe environment for the dogs. Including paying close attention to interaction between dogs and the equipment being used (pools, fences, toys, etc.) as well as treating each dog with respect and kindness.
Be confident and able to separate dogs quickly if an unsafe situation should occur.
Remain present with dogs while they are playing and interacting. Communicate with the Day Play Coordinator about pertinent information regarding dogs’ behavior and state of physical and emotional wellbeing.
Keep a clean environment inside as well as outside. Including but not limited to scooping feces in a timely manner, fully cleaning up any bodily fluids from the dogs inside their rooms, taking out garbage both inside and outside, vacuuming and mopping the floor at the end of each day, washing food and water bowls, wiping down rooms, doors, windows, and walls, and cleaning outdoor equipment as needed.
Follow the schedule for the day, keeping a steady flow of playtimes and rest times for each group of dogs between drop off and pick up times.
Communicate with dog owners in a clear and pleasant manner in person, and when needed, over the phone and via email.
Ensure that each dog has access to water in their room at all times, feed meals and treats brought by owners at appropriate times if applicable.
Report any malfunctioning equipment to the Day Play Coordinator in a timely manner.
Wear/bring appropriate clothing and footwear for outdoor temperature and weather.
During the winter, shovel snow/salting from the front porch and drop off area to ensure a safe walking area for clients.
Perform baths and nail trims as needed. Including basic rinse off if dogs get muddy during play.

Qualifications

Hold and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License
Strong written and verbal communication.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Able to learn other platforms as needed
Ability to work with little to no supervision
Ability to follow, understand and apply operational and technical instruction.
Must be dependable and punctual.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
Interpersonal skills
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to lift to 50 pounds
Able to stand/walk for up to 1 hour at a time
