About us

Grey Matter Neuropsychology of New York is a private neuropsychology practice in New York, NY.

Dr. Michael R. Méager, the Owner & Founding Director of the practice, is a board certified clinical neuropsychologist. His practice provides neuropsychological and psychological evaluations to patients across the lifespan (ages 6 and up), who have a wide range of psychological, neurological, and neurodevelopmental conditions and symptoms. Referrals come from many of the local medical centers, from neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, attorneys, other health care professionals, as well as the New York City Department of Education and local universities.

Common adult conditions include Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinsonian conditions, frontal temporal lobe dementias, traumatic brain injury, stroke, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Common pediatric conditions include a range of neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., cerebral palsy, prematurity, perinatal stroke, ADHD, and ASD), genetic conditions (e.g., Down's syndrome, Fragile X), neurological conditions (e.g., seizures), acquired brain injury (e.g., stroke, traumatic brain injury), and specific learning disabilities (SLD). Many of the patients who present in the clinic have comorbid psychiatric conditions, such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other similar disorders.

Dr. Mèager also provides forensic consultation and evaluation services, such as forensic neuropsychological evaluations in the context of civil and criminal cases, and capacity evaluations for adults and older adults related to independent living, financial decision making, testamentary, and other forms of capacity.

We are experiencing growth and are in the process of hiring supportive staff and professionals to help manage the influx of patient/client cases.

We are looking to hire an individual who can work in two roles, as a psychometrist (testing technician) and an office assistant. The practice is seeking candidates that are highly motivated, collaborative, adaptable, detailed, and open to new learning experiences.

Optimally, the applicant will be an individual with a minimum education attainment of a bachelor’s degree in psychology or related subject who has some experience with test administration and/or work as a medical office assistant. Preference will be given to applicants who can commit to 2 or more years, although applicants who may only be able to commit to 1 year will be considered. This position is geared toward an individual who has interest in clinical psychology/neuropsychology, wanting to develop their assessment knowledge and /office assistant work, such as scheduling patients, calling insurance companies, and other related tasks.

Responsibilities:

Good social skills, and ability to develop rapport with patients.

Openness to constructive feedback and desire to learn and improve skill sets.

Administration and scoring of 40+ psychological/neuropsychological tests.

High attention to detail.

Perform general office duties, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and managing correspondence for scheduling patients.

Greet and assist visitors, ensuring a positive and professional experience.· Organize and schedule appointments, meetings, and events.

Manage calendars.

Type, transcribe, and distribute documents as required.

Assist with basic bookkeeping tasks, such as invoicing and data entry.

Support other team members with administrative tasks as needed.

Scanning, making copies, organizing charts.

Skills:

Test administration/scoring.

Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and use of Apple iOS and Windows.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

High Attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed.

Ability to multitask and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Ability to lift and carry 20 lbs.

Ability to assist patients who have trouble walking and/or push a wheelchair.

Patience when communicating with individuals over the phone and in person.

Experience:

Prior experience (1 year +) working as a psychometrist and/or as an office assistant in a health care practice is preferred.
