With multiple locations across NYC, we are committed to honoring every family’s cultural traditions while delivering professional, personalized, and modern funeral services.

We are seeking a licensed Funeral Director who is compassionate, detail-oriented, and dedicated to serving families during life’s most meaningful moments.

Position Summary

The Funeral Director is responsible for coordinating and directing funeral and memorial services while providing empathetic guidance to families. This role ensures seamless execution of services, compliance with all regulatory requirements, and adherence to Ortiz Funeral Home’s service standards across assigned locations.

Key ResponsibilitiesFamily Care & Arrangements

Meet with families to plan funeral, memorial, burial, and cremation services
Explain service options, merchandise, pricing, and legal requirements clearly and compassionately
Coordinate clergy, cemeteries, crematories, and other service providers
Provide grief support and professional guidance throughout the arrangement process

Service & Operations Management

Direct funeral, visitation, and memorial services with professionalism and attention to detail
Oversee preparation, transportation, and care of decedents
Ensure facilities are prepared and services run smoothly and on schedule
Collaborate with administrative and location teams to maintain high service standards

Compliance & Documentation

Complete death certificates, permits, and all required legal documentation accurately and timely
Ensure compliance with NYC, New York State, and federal regulations
Adhere to company policies, SOPs, and ethical standards

Team Collaboration

Work closely with location managers, support staff, and leadership
Assist with training and mentoring of junior staff when needed
Support cross-location operations as required

Qualifications & Requirements

New York State Funeral Director license (required)
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mortuary Science (or equivalent)
Minimum 1–3 years of experience as a licensed Funeral Director preferred
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations
Professional appearance and demeanor
Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
