Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Director of Institutional Sales to lead and expand our institutional market presence. This role is responsible for promoting and managing the sales of pharmaceuticals and medical-surgical products to hospitals, clinics, veterinary centers, and specialized pharmacies (including infusion services). The Director oversees the Institutional Sales Division, supervising telemarketing and sales teams to ensure performance excellence and full compliance with company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic and Commercial Development

Design and implement commercial strategies to drive growth in the institutional market.

Participate in developing overall business strategies aligned with the company’s goals.

Lead negotiations with clients, contractors, and Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs).

Oversee export activities, including contracting and international sales outside Puerto Rico.

Client and Supplier Relations

Represent the company in presentations to clients and suppliers.

Welcome and tour suppliers through the company facilities.

Manage supplier integration processes to ensure smooth onboarding.

Maintain strong customer relationships by providing quality service, follow-ups, and collections as needed.

Participate in conventions and client-related activities locally and abroad.

Operational and Administrative Responsibilities

Monitor and follow up on business proposals and performance results.

Prepare reports and other documentation as required by management.

Support the Credit and Collection Department in financial processes.

Ensure compliance with institutional policies, standards, and procedures.

Leadership and Human Resource Management

Supervise assigned staff, including recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and conflict resolution.

Lead team meetings and coordinate office or departmental management activities.

Collaborate with Human Resources on personnel matters and maintain accurate employee records.

Support payroll administration and time/attendance management.

Training and Professional Development

Develop and coordinate training programs to enhance employee capabilities in partnership with HR.

Attend workshops, seminars, and professional development events to stay current in best practices.

Promote a culture of professionalism, commitment, and continuous improvement.

General and Cross-Functional Duties

Actively participate in company meetings, committees, and professional activities.

Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support enterprise-level objectives.

Key Qualifications:

1. Education: Master’s degree in finance, Sales, or Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. Experience: 5–10 years of relevant professional experience in institutional or commercial sales, preferably within the pharmaceutical or medical-surgical industry.

3. Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; strong computer literacy with advanced data management and documentation skills.

4. Language Proficiency: Fully bilingual in Spanish and English, with advanced reading, writing, and verbal communication abilities in both languages.

5. Communication Skills: Demonstrated ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical documents, and government regulations. Skilled in preparing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals, as well as in delivering presentations and responding effectively to managers, clients, and the public.
