We are seeking a Color Studio Manager responsible for leading daily operations within our paint/stain/finishing production line who will serve as a central contact point for multiple business departments. We are looking for a proven, technically strong color professional who can step into the operation with credibility, lead experienced and developing team members, improve processes, and manage teams to lead one of the company’s fastest-growing lines of business.
This hands-on leadership role oversees production workflow, color matching, quality control, efficiency metrics, team performance and delivers exceptional products with minimal waste. The role also includes working with Purchasing, Customer Service, Outside Sales and directly with the customer to ensure clear communication, efficient processes, accurate orders, and high-level customer service. You are responsible for supervision of personnel and processes to successfully execute daily color studio operations. You will drive standards and KPIs related to customer service, productivity and waste to ensure all orders are processed and shipped in a timely manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Lead daily Color Studio operations to ensure orders are completed accurately, efficiently, safely, and on time.
- Plan, prioritize, and adjust daily workflow based on order volume, customer urgency, staffing, and business priorities.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership in color matching, color correction, and quality assurance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for order issues, production delays and color discrepancies. Makes exception- based decisions for processing orders in support of customer priorities and outside of service level agreement.
- Supervise, coach, train, and develop Color Studio team members. Partner with the Warehouse Operations Manager on hiring, onboarding, corrective action, performance reviews, and succession planning within the department.
- Continue to improve and reinforce standard operating procedures for order processing, color matching, equipment use, quality control, waste reduction, inventory, and safety.
- Monitor key performance indicators related to productivity, order accuracy, turnaround time, quality, customer service, waste, and team performance.
- Identify workflow constraints, process gaps, recurring errors, or training needs; recommend and implement practical solutions.
- Lead color studio safety protocol. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety standards, Hazmat requirements, workplace procedures. Lead annual warehouse Hazmat recertification.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs for any color studio equipment.
- Parter with Inventory and Purchasing departments to maintain appropriate inventory of materials needed to support business demand.
- Serve as a cross-functional liaison between departments to develop policies that promote a culture of teamwork, customer service, and professionalism.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in paint, coatings, tinting, color matching, color lab, paint production, or a closely related environment.
- Minimum 2 years of experience leading, supervising, training, or directing the work of others in a production, warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment.
- Strong color discrimination ability, able to distinguish subtle differences in hue, value, and chroma.
- Strong understanding of quality control practices and the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production or color-related issues.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to troubleshoot concerns, resolve issues professionally, and de-escalate difficult or sensitive customer situations.
- Proficient typing and computer skills, with the ability to learn and effectively use company operating systems and related technology.
- Ability to read, follow, and reinforce written procedures, production instructions, order requirements, and safety guidelines.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure while balancing quality, productivity, customer service, and safety.
- Strong communication skills across different audiences, while maintaining a customer-centric mindset.
Preferred qualifications
- DataColor or Corob experience a strong plus.
- Knowledge of wood finishing products and their application across various wood species.
Physical Demands and Abilities
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50 lbs., occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 70 lbs.
- Ability to withstand temperatures in a typical warehouse environment.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch.
- Frequently required to move between office and warehouse environment.
- Position may require climbing of ladders.
- Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.
Travel
This role occasionally travels to Phoenix, AZ to train and support a satellite color studio.
Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time hourly paid position. Must be available to work between the hours of 7 AM – 7PM Monday through Friday. This position regularly works overtime.

Pay: $30.00 - $43.30 per hour
