Full Job Description

Our growing Family Law firm is seeking a Paralegal to join our team of exceptional lawyers and support staff. Our practice is dedicated to a compassionate approach while providing superior legal service to our clients.

We practice Family Law exclusively with a focus on litigating and mediating divorces, child custody and financial support in addition to other family law matters.

Responsibilities:

Drafting and researching family law motions, including Requests for Orders re child custody, spousal support, and domestic violence restraining orders
Legal research on child custody, child support, and other family law issues
Assembling and e-filing motions, briefs, and Requests for Orders
Document review from discovery responses
Drafting correspondence, including letters regarding settlement and discovery meet and confer letters
Preparing subpoenas and other discovery
Formatting orders and notices
Heavy client and court contact

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or paralegal certificate required
Previous experience as a paralegal or legal assistant is required
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work
Proficient in legal research methods and databases such as Lexis-Nexis
Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
Ability to draft legal documents with proper formatting and citation
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Compensation:

Hourly rate to be discussed
40 hours per week (plus occasional overtime)
401(k)
Paid holidays, sick time, and vacation pay
Parking

Candidate must be a self-starter, have strong attention to detail, excellent communication and time management skills, a positive attitude and be a team player. A friendly and caring personality is important as this position requires a lot of client handholding. This is an in-office position so you must reside in the Los Angeles/Valley area. Notary certification a plus.
