How you will make an impact:
The Senior HR Generalist, Operations supports and independently manages a diverse set of HR operations, including but not limited to job description creation and management, employee relations, compliance, policy review, performance management, and onboarding and orientation. This role plays a key part in fostering communication between employees and leadership across the organization. Based out of corporate headquarters in Camarillo, CA, this role also supports other facilities as necessary.
The Senior HR Generalist, Operations works in close collaboration with the HR and Administrative teams, as well as supervisors, managers, and executives throughout the organization, partnering on strategic HR initiatives while independently owning cases and projects.
This role supports the Manager of HR Operations in implementing HR initiatives and strategies that align with organizational goals, using HR and people data along with critical thinking to inform recommendations and drive resolutions.
Job Descriptions
- Independently create, update, and maintain job descriptions in partnership with hiring managers and department leaders, ensuring accuracy of duties, qualifications, and FLSA classification.
- Serve as the organization's primary subject matter expert on job description standards, formatting, and compliance, with full ownership of the job description library and audit process.
- Ensure consistency in job structure, leveling, and language across roles and departments to maintain organizational alignment.
- Periodically audit existing job descriptions to ensure they reflect current job duties and organizational structure.
Employee Relations
- Independently manage employee relations cases from intake through resolution, including conducting workplace investigations, documenting findings, and recommending corrective action; escalate complex or high-risk cases to the Manager of HR Operations.
- Provide guidance to leaders and employees on conduct, performance, and disciplinary matters; recommend and facilitate disciplinary actions, up to and including termination, in consultation with the Manager of HR Operations and department leadership; and ensure consistent, legally compliant application of policy.
- Support the Manager of HR Operations with performance management processes, including documentation of coaching conversations, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary actions.
- Serve as an escalation point for employee inquiries beyond the scope of HR Administrative support, providing guidance on policy interpretation, procedures, and employment questions.
HR Support & Employee Engagement
- Provide day-to-day tactical HR support across HR operations and initiatives.
- Provides mentorship and informal coaching to HR Administrative team members, helping build their skills and confidence in day-to-day HR support functions.
- Participate in and support employee engagement committees.
- Support administration of employee engagement, new hire, and exit surveys, including data collection and reporting, in partnership with the Manager of HR Operations.
- Assist with DEI initiatives and related HR projects as needed.
- Foster internal communication between employees and leadership, acting as a liaison and advocate for both.
- Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation to employees and leadership.
Compliance
- Stay current on new and evolving federal, state, and local employment laws and compliance requirements, proactively updating onboarding and offboarding materials, forms, and processes as needed.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as EH&S policies and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain confidential HR data, employee files, and documentation in accordance with company and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with Safety and Operations teams to support compliance-related initiatives.
Onboarding
- Facilitate new hire orientations, including preparing materials, presenting company policies and benefits overviews, and answering new hire questions.
- Manage the end-to-end onboarding process, including distribution, collection, and review of new hire documentation and forms.
- Review onboarding packets for accuracy and compliance, identifying and correcting documentation errors before finalizing new hire files.
The skills and experience you’ll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 4+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- HR certification preferred, such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR a plus.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required, including verbal, written, and spoken communication.
- Must be proficient with MS Office suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience with HRIS systems required.
- Must be technology curious, with a growth mindset that embraces new tools and approaches, paired with strong risk management judgement in execution.
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. federal and CA state labor laws required, knowledge in other states and countries a plus.
- Strong compliance skills, including identifying risks and ensuring adherence to employment laws, regulations, and company policy.
- Proactive and self-directed, with strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, exercising sound judgment when making recommendations.
- Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and de-escalation skills.
- Strong aptitude for understanding organizational structure, operational objectives, culture, job roles, compensation practices, and related administrative processes.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with an ability to prioritize varying projects and deadlines.

The base pay scale for this role is what Meissner reasonably expects to pay for the position although actual pay may vary from this scale depending on an applicant's experience.
