Full Job Description

Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Medical Biller to join our growing healthcare team. This role plays a critical part in maintaining an efficient revenue cycle by ensuring accurate billing, proper coding, and timely collection of payments from both patients and insurance providers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing processes, coding systems, and compliance standards, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare, review, and submit medical claims to insurance carriers and patients accurately and in a timely manner
Ensure proper coding of diagnoses and procedures using appropriate coding systems
Review patient records for completeness and accuracy prior to claim submission
Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and manage collections effectively
Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing and account status in a professional manner
Stay up to date with billing regulations, coding updates, and payer-specific requirements
Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to resolve billing discrepancies
Generate and maintain reports on billing activity, collections, and outstanding balances

Qualifications:

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Working knowledge of New York State No-Fault and Workers’ Compensation billing
Proficiency in medical billing software and practice management systems
Solid understanding of medical terminology and coding practices, including DRG
Prior experience in a medical office setting with a focus on billing and collections
Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, insurance carriers, and team members
