Kitchen Supervisor

Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt
Employment Type: Full time
Location: Chelsea, MI

About us:

We are looking for a talented, driven and experienced Kitchen Supervisor to join our growing team at the Chelsea location. Smokehouse 52 BBQ is family owned and specializes in Real Pit smoked proteins and hand-crafted sides. We feature Michigan draft beer line-up and house crafted specialty drinks. We are searching for a hardworking, passionate about food, teamwork and creating a positive dinning experience.

Duties:

Responsible for setting the tone and pace in the kitchen. Must have a sense of urgency. The pace should be the same rather there’s 1 ticket or 50 tickets on the rail.
Training of all line cooks
Oversees food production and presentation
Supervises all line cook and dish room staff
Control daily operations of all production of food in the kitchen, their quality, requisitions, storage, usage, and rotation.
To ensure timely and quality service of our menu items according to service specifications and guest expectations.
Cooks or directly supervises the cooking of all items
Ability to perform the tasks and responsibilities of the Kitchen Manager and/or Prep Manager in his/her absence for limited periods of time.
Handles the interaction between kitchen and restaurant staff, settling disputes quickly and quietly that may arise from time to time.
Notifies the Kitchen Manager when supplies are not adequate or are not of the desired quality.
Participates in the creation of new menu items, the trials and training of these items and the successful implementation onto our menu.
Updates and corrects usage and format recipes.
Assists in controlling costs associated with the kitchen operations

Qualifications:

Hardworking and passionate about the food industry
Strong team player and communicator
Ability to work in a fast paced enviornment
18+ years of age or older
Previous management or supervisory experience a plus
Organized with attention to detail
Authorized to work in the US
