Full Job Description

We’re a small commercial construction company that does concrete, groundwork and stormwater management. We need a working foreman who can run a small crew, keep jobs moving, and jump in when needed.

Position Expectations & Responsibilities

As Foreman, you will provide leadership, operational oversight, and accountability on assigned commercial projects. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Supervise and Lead Field Crews: Direct, manage, and motivate field personnel to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards. Delegate tasks appropriately and hold crew members accountable for performance and conduct.
Maintain Job Site Safety: Enforce OSHA standards and all company safety policies at all times. Conduct job hazard assessments, lead safety meetings/toolbox talks, ensure proper use of PPE, and immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
Coordinate Daily Operations: Plan and organize daily work activities, sequencing, and manpower allocation to meet project timelines. Ensure materials, equipment, and subcontractors are scheduled and available to prevent delays.
Project Schedule Accountability: Monitor production and job progress to ensure projects remain on schedule and within scope. Proactively identify potential delays and communicate solutions to project management.
Communication & Reporting: Maintain professional communication with project managers, subcontractors, inspectors, vendors, and clients. Provide timely updates on progress, manpower needs, material requirements, and jobsite conditions.
Quality Control: Ensure all work performed meets company standards, project specifications, and applicable codes. Conduct routine quality checks and correct deficiencies promptly.
Documentation & Tracking: Accurately track labor hours, materials used, equipment usage, maintenance needs, and daily job progress. Submit required reports and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
Equipment Oversight: Track, supervise, and ensure proper use and care of all company equipment, including hand tools, power tools, and large machinery. Maintain organization, accountability, and preventative care of company assets.
DOT Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance: Maintain accurate maintenance logs for DOT-regulated vehicles and equipment. Coordinate required inspections, service, and maintenance with company leadership based on operational needs and project scheduling to ensure compliance and minimize downtime.
Training & Development: Assist in onboarding and mentoring crew members. Promote teamwork, accountability, and a strong safety culture.
Professional Representation: Represent Second Wind Contracting with integrity and professionalism at all times, maintaining positive working relationships and upholding the company’s reputation.

This role requires strong leadership, sound judgment, problem-solving ability, and the capacity to perform in a fast-paced commercial construction environment while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and accountability.

Conditions of Employment

Employment in this role is contingent upon:

Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and substance screening in accordance with DOT regulations
Maintenance of a valid CDL Class A license in good standing per DOT requirements
Completion of OSHA 10 certification (paid for by the company) within 90 days of employment
Completion of MDE Green Card certification within 90 days of employment
