JOB TITLE
Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse / Technologist

Location: Illinois
Department: Cardiac Cath Lab / Electrophysiology
Type: Contract
Pay Rate: $71
Contract Duration: 3 Months (Typical)
Schedule: Full-Time
Shift: 10-Hour Day Shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
Weekend Rotation: Call Rotation Only
On-Call: Yes – Required

About the Role

MedOp Solutions is partnering with a Magnet-designated teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center to hire experienced Cardiac Cath Lab professionals for a high-acuity procedural assignment.

This role supports a busy Cardiac Cath Lab and Electrophysiology department performing advanced cardiovascular and peripheral vascular procedures. The ideal candidate will have prior Cath Lab experience in complex interventional procedures and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced procedural environment.

This opportunity is ideal for experienced Cath Lab RNs and Technologists seeking exposure to advanced cardiac and electrophysiology procedures within a nationally recognized acute care facility.

Average Daily Case Volume: 5–15 cases
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience
First-Time Travelers: Not accepted

Diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations
LHC/RHC procedures
STEMI and NSTEMI interventions
Impella support
Intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP)
Rotoblator procedures
CTOs and staged PCI
Shockwave procedures
Temporary pacemakers
Peripheral vascular interventions and diagnostics
Loop recorders

Electrophysiology Procedures

Micra implants

Key Responsibilities

RN Responsibilities

Monitor and circulate during Cath Lab and EP procedures
Administer moderate sedation using Versed and Fentanyl
Manage critical drips and hemodynamic monitoring
Provide patient care during complex interventional procedures
Collaborate with physicians and procedural staff

Technologist Responsibilities

Scrub and operate pan table during procedures
Assist with advanced interventional procedures and EP cases
Operate Medrad injectors and imaging equipment
Perform groin site management and patient monitoring
Support laser lead extraction and complex vascular procedures

Required Qualifications

RN Requirements

Active RN license
BLS certification required
ACLS certification required
Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience required

Technologist Requirements

ARRT certification required
BLS certification required
ACLS certification required
RCIS alone will not be accepted
Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience required

Shift: 10-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Schedule created in 6-week increments
Self-scheduling with manager approval
Weekend call requirements:
- 2 weekend call shifts per 4-week schedule
- Weekend shifts may be Saturday/Sunday together or split
Weekday call requirements:
- 4–5 overnight call shifts per 4-week schedule
30-minute response time required
No sleep room available
Holiday call coverage possible
Up to 7 days RTO may be approved
