ABOUT CARIS

Caris is an apolitical faith-based nonprofit pregnancy counseling organization, and a beacon of light in the Chicagoland region. Our mission is to see women and children thrive during and after unplanned pregnancy.

Our approach is unique: we serve by grace with love no matter what decision is made. We trust God to do the work that we are incapable of doing in our own strength. We provide professional counseling to women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, and we also connect women to valuable resources and to various communities of support. All services are donor supported and as a result are FREE to the women and families that we serve. Services include professional counseling, support groups, workshops and a community of resources.

Our organization does not provide medical care, mental health treatment, psychotherapy, diagnosis, or clinical counseling. Therefore, we do not maintain medical or mental health treatment records.

OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY

The Part-Time Licensed Counselor will join and align with Caris, a faith-based organization with Christ-centered principles. Counselors lead by serving our clients and team members. This is an in-office part-time position in downtown Chicago. An ideal candidate has both an administrative and a client-facing background. This dynamic position requires the ability to anticipate needs, think critically, and counsel a variety of clients with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

The Part-Time Licensed Counselor must exemplify a committed and consistent walk of Faith and dependence on Jesus and have a personal calling to Ministry and to the specific mission and vision of Caris. The Part-Time Counselor must also be in full alignment with the grace-filled approach and our Statement of Faith.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree in social work or counseling (Required).
LPC, LSW, LCSW, LCPC (Required).
Active listener with the ability to build solid relationships.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred 2+ years of customer service and/or program assistance experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Canva Experience (Preferred)
Detail-oriented, driven, and independent worker.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

DIRECT CLIENT SERVICE

Maintain up-to-date and accurate client case notes/documentation for records.
Coordinate effective and timely follow-up of all clients served.
Manage connection groups, clinical support groups. (Evening Hours Availability Required)
Gather reports on client statistics, etc.
Occasionally lead client service team meetings.
Troubleshoot and mediate jobsite issues.
Participate in special projects.
Support day-to-day operations alongside the Program Director as needed.

OUTREACH

Support client service external relationship development, as needed.
Support positive working relationships with community agencies, churches, businesses, etc. for the purpose of securing client resources.
Support outreach and actively engage potential clients by being present.
Occasionally, represent the organization at events and meetings.

HOURS & PAY

This is an in-office, part-time position (20-24 hours per week) based in downtown Chicago. The schedule consists of 20 weekday hours worked on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, plus one 4-hour Saturday shift. Some flexibility may be required to accommodate client needs, evening support groups, and occasional organizational events.

Some responsibilities for this position may occur outside regular office hours and may include evenings, weekends, holidays, office closures, travel, outreach activities, event support, and light lifting. Flex time is available when work is required outside standard business hours.

Candidate must exhibit leadership ability, organizational skills, and flexibility. Experience in working with women and/or crisis counseling preferred.
