Full Job Description

CHURCH SECRETARY / OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR

The First Presbyterian Church of Willoughby has an opening for a Church Secretary to provide essential administrative support to the pastor and church leadership, ensuring the smooth and timely operation of the church office. This is a part-time flexible schedule that requires excellent computer skills (including PowerPoint), accuracy, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a friendly, welcoming presence. Knowledge of QuickBooks is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Greets and assists visitors and members, fostering a positive and uplifting atmosphere consistent with the values of a Matthew 25 church.
Provides confidential and reliable secretarial support to the pastor, including scheduling, correspondence, and document preparation.
Completes administrative tasks with accuracy and timeliness, maintaining organized records and files.
Manages incoming calls, emails, and office communications with professionalism and care.
Assists with weekly and monthly church operations, including bulletins, reports, and other materials.
Supports staff and volunteers by coordinating information, preparing documents, and helping ensure smooth workflow.

Requirements:

Excellent secretarial skills and the ability to accurately and effectively utilize MS Office -- including PowerPoint, Excel, and working knowledge of QuickBooks, and other computer programs to perform job functions, and normal office equipment.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy is a must.
Must be an excellent communicator (both written and oral) with the ability to positively connect with a broad range of people of different ages and backgrounds.
Ability to connect with both church members and the community.
Ability to utilize social media to promote the initiatives of the church.
Willingness to adjust to changing priorities as needs may arise.

Ideal Candidate - Friendly, dependable, detail‑oriented, and able to work graciously with a variety of personalities while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
