Full Job Description

Position Summary:

CIS is seeking a dependable, experienced, and motivated 2nd Shift Custodial Supervisor to oversee daily custodial operations and lead our 2nd shift cleaning team. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all duties outlined in the facility's scope of work are completed each day while maintaining high standards for cleanliness, sanitation, safety, productivity, and professionalism.

The ideal candidate will have previous commercial, industrial, or custodial cleaning experience, a strong employment history, and the ability to effectively supervise and work alongside a team in a fast-paced environment.

Safety & Workplace Expectations:

Safety is a priority at CIS. The 2nd Shift Supervisor is expected to lead by example and ensure employees follow all established safety procedures.

The Supervisor is responsible for enforcing and adhering to all policies and procedures contained in the CIS Employee Handbook and any site-specific requirements.

CIS and our customer locations are drug-free work environments.

What We're Looking For:

We are looking for a supervisor who is dependable, organized, safety-conscious, hands-on, and willing to lead by example. This position requires someone who can manage employees while also stepping in to help the team when needed.

Successful candidates will understand that the Supervisor's responsibility is not simply to assign work—it is to ensure the work is completed safely, correctly, and to the standards expected by CIS and our customers.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage daily custodial operations during the second shift.
Assign employees to designated work areas and ensure appropriate staffing for all required tasks.
Ensure all duties included in the scope of work are completed properly and on time.
Supervise and assist with cleaning offices, restrooms, hallways, common areas, and other assigned spaces.
Perform and oversee routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, trash removal, and sanitizing.
Oversee floor care operations, including buffing, waxing, polishing, and other required floor maintenance.
Train new employees on assigned duties, cleaning procedures, equipment use, safety requirements, and company expectations.
Monitor employee performance, attendance, conduct, and completion of assigned responsibilities.
Work alongside the custodial team when necessary to ensure nightly responsibilities are completed.
Coordinate with the Site Manager and other departments regarding maintenance, custodial, staffing, or facility needs.
Respond professionally and promptly to custodial concerns, complaints, and unexpected issues.
Enforce all company policies, safety requirements, procedures, and standards outlined in the employee handbook.

Daily Supervisory Responsibilities:

The 2nd Shift Supervisor is responsible for actively managing the team throughout the entire shift. Responsibilities include:

Daily Walk-Throughs

Conduct walk-throughs throughout the facility.
Verify that employees are present and working in their assigned areas.
Monitor cleanliness and quality throughout the shift.
Reassign personnel when necessary to meet operational needs.
Address performance or cleaning issues as they occur.

End-of-Shift Inspections

Confirm that all employees are accounted for.
Verify that all assigned tasks have been completed.
Inspect completed work for quality and compliance with facility standards.
Address incomplete or unacceptable work before the end of the shift whenever possible.

Communication and Briefings

Maintain regular communication with the Site Manager.
Report staffing concerns, maintenance issues, supply needs, equipment problems, and other important developments.
Provide employees with clear instructions and updates regarding daily assignments.

Equipment Responsibilities

The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that custodial equipment is properly inspected, operated, and documented.

Ensure employees inspect equipment before and after use.
Ensure equipment usage hours are properly logged.
Report damaged, malfunctioning, or unsafe equipment.
Promote proper and safe operation of all custodial equipment.

Inventory and Supplies

Monitor cleaning materials, chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
Conduct weekly inventory checks.
Report shortages to the Site Manager for replenishment from the tool crib.
Notify the Site Manager of any special materials or supplies needed to complete assigned work.
Help ensure supplies are properly stored and used responsibly.

Weekly Inspections

The Supervisor must complete a documented facility inspection each week.

Weekly inspections should identify:

Areas requiring additional attention
Cleaning quality concerns
Equipment issues
Supply needs
Safety concerns
Employee performance or staffing concerns

Completed inspection documentation must be submitted as required.

Qualifications:

Previous commercial cleaning, custodial, janitorial, or related experience required.
Previous supervisory, Team Lead, or leadership experience preferred.
Industrial cleaning experience is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitation procedures.
Experience with floor care equipment and procedures, including buffing, waxing, and polishing.
Ability to train, supervise, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
Ability to work independently while effectively managing a team.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet nightly deadlines.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Must be dependable, punctual, safety-conscious, and ready to work.
Must have a positive work history demonstrating consistent employment for solid lengths of time.
Must be willing to work as a team player and assist the crew when necessary.

Pay: $19.00 per hour
