Full Job Description

CDL Class A Driver

Fresno, CA

Browning Contractors Inc. is a leading underground construction company for the Central Valley. We are currently looking for a Commercial Driver’s License Class A Driver to fill a vacant position in the Fresno area. The ideal candidate should hold a valid CDL Class A driver’s license and minimum of 2 years verifiable recent truck driving experience.

Responsibilities of the CDL Class A Truck Driver

Routinely water down job sites to maintain proper control over dust pollution in heavy traffic areas
Operate water equipment
Ensure soil has proper water level to meet compaction requirements; hosing down soil as it comes back into a trench
Minimize work site dust exposure as per the OSHA silica standard
Checking mechanical aspects of the vehicle
Fill in as Laborer as needed
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications of the CDL Class A Truck Driver

Hold a valid Commercial Driver´s License Class A driver’s license in CA
Minimum of 3 years verifiable recent truck driving experience, and be 21 years of age minimum
No more than 3 moving violations in last 3 years or 4 points and no major violations; DUI, reckless driving
Hazmat/Tanker endorsement needed
Must be able to drive both Manual and Automatic transmission vehicles

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The position lifts heavy objects up to 80 pounds by themselves, more than 80 pounds with assistance not to exceed 100 lbs. The position walks, stands, kneels and bends for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.

Most work is located within the Central Valley. Weekly hours will average 45+/- dependent on weather and business demands.
