We are looking for a Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN) to support the delivery of primary care services in a pediatric clinic setting. This position works closely with providers, CNAs/CMAs, LPN’s, office staff, and the Quality and Care Manager to provide high-quality care to patients in a fun, fast-paced environment.

Position Summary

The Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct clinical care and coordination support within a pediatric outpatient setting. This role focuses on patient care on the clinic floor, including vaccine administration, respiratory treatments, clinical evaluation, and assistance with higher-acuity patient situations.

In addition to providing hands-on patient care, the RN supports clinic operations by helping coordinate patient flow, prioritizing clinical needs, and facilitating communication between providers, medical assistants (MAs), and front office personnel to ensure efficient and high-quality care delivery.

The RN works collaboratively with the healthcare team to promote a safe, organized, and patient-centered environment. This position also plays an important role in mentoring and supporting clinical staff by assisting with training and serving as a clinical resource for Medical Assistants.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Patient Care

Administer routine and catch-up immunizations according to pediatric immunization schedules and clinic protocols.
Perform respiratory treatments, including nebulizer treatments and oxygen monitoring.
Conduct deep nasal suctioning and other supportive respiratory interventions for pediatric patients.
Perform urinary catheterization when indicated.
Assist providers with procedures and clinical evaluations as needed.
Perform focused clinical assessments for pediatric patients presenting with illness or acute concerns.
Monitor patient condition and escalate concerns to providers when appropriate.
Document all patient care accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record (EMR).

Clinical Coordination & Clinic Flow

Assist in coordinating daily clinic flow and room utilization to support timely patient care.
Serve as a point of communication between providers, medical assistants, and front office staff to support efficient care delivery.
Help prioritize patient needs and assist in managing urgent or higher-acuity situations within the clinic.
Support coordination of patient care activities including follow-up needs, testing, and referrals when appropriate.

Clinical Support

Assist with higher-acuity clinical situations occurring in the clinic or over the phone (e.g., respiratory distress, allergic reactions, urgent care needs).
Provide clinical support during urgent walk-in situations.
Support staff with complex patient calls or situations requiring RN-level clinical judgment.
Assist in determining appropriate next steps for patient care, including scheduling, escalation, or emergency referral.

Clinical Operations

Serve as a float nurse, providing support across exam rooms and clinical areas as needed.
Assist with patient flow to maintain efficiency and minimize delays in care.
Ensure clinical supplies and vaccine storage are maintained according to safety standards.
Follow infection prevention protocols and ensure compliance with clinic policies.

Staff Support & Training

Assist in training and mentoring Medical Assistants in clinical skills and workflows.
Provide clinical guidance and support to MAs when needed.
Support competency development in areas such as immunizations, patient assessment, and respiratory treatments.
Assist in the development and review of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Promote a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

Required

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Idaho
Current BLS/CPR certification
Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (pediatrics preferred)

Preferred

Pediatric outpatient or ambulatory care experience
Experience working collaboratively with Medical Assistants
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills

Skills & Competencies

Strong pediatric assessment skills
Ability to respond calmly to urgent or higher-acuity situations
Effective communication with children, parents, and caregivers
Ability to teach and support clinical staff
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Team-oriented mindset with flexibility to float where needed

Work Environment

Fast-paced pediatric outpatient clinic
Frequent interaction with infants, children, adolescents, and caregivers
Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs)

Schedule

Part-time schedule, typically 2–3 days per week, depending on clinic needs.
