Hospice State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)

The Hospice State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) is a valued member of the interdisciplinary hospice team who works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide compassionate, patient-centered personal care. The Hospice STNA plays an essential role in promoting comfort, dignity, and quality of life while supporting patients and their families during end-of-life care.

Key Responsibilities

On a typical day, you will:

Provide compassionate personal care, including bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, dressing, toileting, and shampooing.
Assist with repositioning, transfers, ambulation, and range-of-motion exercises as directed by the Registered Nurse or therapist.
Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for patients, including light housekeeping, linen changes, and light laundry as assigned.
Assist with meal preparation, feeding, hydration, and other activities of daily living (ADLs) as appropriate.
Observe, document, and promptly report changes in the patient's physical or emotional condition to the Case Manager or Registered Nurse.
Communicate respectfully and compassionately with patients, families, and caregivers while maintaining confidentiality and patient dignity.
Assist with self-administered medications by providing reminders, as permitted by state regulations.
Utilize equipment safely and follow all infection control and patient safety procedures.
Accurately complete required documentation in accordance with agency policies and regulatory standards.
Provide emotional support and respite for family caregivers when appropriate.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing education as required.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of quality patient care.

Qualifications

Current State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification.
Hospice experience preferred.
Current CPR certification
Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.
Ability to travel to patient homes within the assigned service area.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and provide compassionate, respectful care.
Ability to safely lift, transfer, and assist patients with mobility and activities of daily living.
Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
