Job Title: Registered Nurse, Surgery
Type: Full time Permanent
Location: Rutherfordton, NC
Shift: Typical hours are 7:00am-3:30pm, plus 1-2 call shifts per week. Call back response is 30 minutes.
Salary: $60,000.00 to $82,000.00 Annually plus benefits

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our surgical team in the Operating Room (OR). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in acute care and possess at least two years of circulating RN experience specifically within surgical and OR settings. This role involves providing high-quality perioperative nursing care, ensuring patient safety, and supporting surgical teams throughout various procedures. Candidates must demonstrate excellent clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to prepare patients for surgery and assist during procedures.
Monitor patient vital signs and overall condition throughout the surgical process, responding promptly to any changes.
Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are sterile, properly maintained, and ready for use.
Assist with patient positioning, anesthesia administration support, and wound management as needed.
Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Provide compassionate preoperative education to patients regarding procedures and postoperative expectations.
Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
Support the surgical team in managing emergencies or unexpected situations during operations.

Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the relevant state or jurisdiction.
Minimum of two years of circulating RN experience in Surgery and Operating Room settings is required; experience in Pre-Op, Post-Op, Endoscopy/GI, or PACU roles does not meet this requirement.
Must be comfortable circulating in orthopedic, general surgery, da Vinci, and some OB/GYN procedures.
Demonstrated acute care experience with the ability to handle complex surgical cases efficiently.
Strong understanding of sterile techniques, surgical procedures, and perioperative protocols.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond swiftly to emergent situations.
Commitment to providing compassionate patient-centered care while maintaining high safety standards.
