General Manager – Automotive Dealership (Hands-On)

Location: San Antonio, TX
Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: $300,000 - $600,000 / year

Job Description

We are seeking a high-energy, Hands-On General Manager (GM) with at least 5 years of direct GM experience to lead our San Antonio automotive dealership. This is not a desk job. We need a seasoned, executive leader who actively works the showroom floor, engages directly with customers, and stands side-by-side with department heads to drive daily production. You will have full operational and financial control over all departments—including sales, F&I, and fixed operations—with a strict focus on leading by example.Key Responsibilities

Active Floor Presence: Spend significant time on the showroom floor, desk, and service drive to drive daily activity.
Deal Closings: Step in directly to help desk deals, T.O. (turnover) customers, and secure maximum front-end gross.
Daily Management: Conduct daily save-a-deal meetings and review individual salesperson activity pipelines.
Fixed Ops Engagement: Partner closely with service and parts managers to optimize shop efficiency and reconditioning turn times.
Financial Accountability: Review daily operating controls (DOCs) and to manage expenses.
Staff Coaching: Provide real-time, on-the-job training and mentorship to sales, finance, and service personnel.

Qualifications

Required Experience: Minimum 5+ years of direct, continuous experience specifically as an Automotive Dealership General Manager.
Leadership Style: Proven track record as a "working manager" who prefers the showroom floor over a closed office.
Expert Closer: Exceptional ability to structure deals, overcome customer objections, and train staff on closing techniques.
Process Driven: Strong execution skills in implementing strict sales processes, CRM logging, and follow-up structures.
Local Compliance: Full understanding of Texas automotive dealer regulations, compliance laws, and factory standards.
