Full Job Description

Flexible Staffing is seeking an experienced Ripener for a fast-paced produce operation. This position is responsible for managing the fruit ripening process, maintaining accurate daily inventory, monitoring product quality and color stages, and ensuring product meets specifications before shipment.

The ideal candidate will have previous ripening experience, strong knowledge of perishable products, and excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Manage and monitor the fruit ripening process according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Maintain daily inventory with special attention to proper fruit color stages and minimal variance.
Plan, execute, and monitor ripening schedules based on forecasted product needs.
Monitor ripening rooms and make necessary adjustments to achieve required color stages.
Coordinate with buying and sales teams regarding fruit availability and product needs.
Perform quality, condition, and color checks throughout the ripening process.
Determine product disposition based on quality and ripeness.
Inspect, sort, and grade product upon arrival.
Ensure proper ripening specifications are achieved before product is released for shipment.
Supervise the loading and unloading of inbound product and perform required inspections.
Conduct and document quality evaluations of inbound and outbound products.
Identify and report products that do not meet specifications, including issues with pallets, packaging, quality, or product appearance.
Maintain accurate inventory and quality documentation.
Follow all company procedures related to product handling, quality, food safety, and inventory control.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
1–2 years of ripening experience and knowledge required.
Experience working with perishable goods strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of product quality, ripeness, and color stages.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities.
Ability to meet deadlines and complete projects in a timely manner.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Comfortable working with changing deadlines and shifting priorities.
Dependable with strong follow-through.
