Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional care to critically ill children. This fast-paced, high-impact environment offers an opportunity to utilize your advanced nursing skills, critical thinking, and compassionate approach to make a meaningful difference in young patients' lives. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, implement complex treatment plans, and ensure the highest standards of patient safety and comfort. This paid position is ideal for motivated nurses eager to advance their expertise in pediatric critical care within a supportive and innovative setting.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients in the PICU, including assessment, monitoring, and intervention for acute conditions.
Administer medications and treatments such as IV infusions, ventilator management, and aseptic techniques with precision and adherence to protocols.
Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic and Cerner to document patient information accurately, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Perform advanced procedures including intubation, suturing, catheterization, and specimen collection while maintaining sterile technique.
Collaborate with physicians and specialists in areas such as cardiology, infectious disease care, trauma medicine, and neonatal resuscitation to develop individualized care plans.
Monitor vital signs, interpret laboratory results including ICD coding and laboratory data, and respond swiftly to changes in patient status during emergencies or trauma situations.
Educate families about treatment options, discharge planning, pain management strategies, and long-term care needs for children with complex conditions or disabilities.

Experience

Proven 2 YEARS critical care experience in a PICU setting or similar high-acuity environment.
Strong background working with pediatric patients across various age groups including neonates and toddlers.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience managing medical documentation and electronic health records management.
Knowledge of advanced pediatric procedures including ventilator management, spinal taps, gastric lavage, and neonatal ventilator support.
Experience working within hospital medicine units or emergency room environments; trauma center experience preferred.
Ability to perform comprehensive physical examinations, interpret diagnostic evaluations like sonography or medical imaging, and apply anatomy knowledge effectively.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification highly desirable.
