Job Description

Zerbo’s Market & Bistro is seeking a reliable, fast-paced Line Cook to join our Back-of-House (BOH) culinary team. The Line Cook plays a critical role in setting up stations, preparing fresh ingredients, and executing bistro menu items to exact recipe standards and presentation specifications. You will work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to ensure seamless food service during high-volume rushes.Benefits

Key Responsibilities

Station Setup: Set up and stock kitchen stations with all necessary culinary supplies, tools, and ingredients prior to service.
Food Preparation: Chop vegetables, portion proteins, and mix scratch-made sauces according to established bistro prep guides.
Line Execution: Cook, assemble, and plate menu items efficiently using a variety of techniques (grilling, sautéing, frying, baking).
Quality & Timing: Coordinate with other BOH team members to guarantee that all table orders come out simultaneously, hot, and on time.
Sanitation & Safety: Adhere strictly to local health department codes, safe food handling policies, proper storage temperatures, and sanitation regulations.
Station Breakdown: Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, and utensils at the end of each shift; properly store and label leftover ingredients.

Experience & Qualifications

Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working as a Line Cook or Prep Cook in a restaurant or full-service kitchen environment.
Strong command of knife skills, proper food safety practices, kitchen terminology, and commercial cooking equipment.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods (up to 8 hours), lift up to 50 pounds, and excel in a hot, fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal communication skills and a team-oriented mindset to maintain professionalism under rush pressure.
Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and select holidays.
ServSafe certification or food handler card is a definite plus.
