The Senior Facilities Controls Engineer provides technical leadership and support for plant infrastructure systems that are critical to safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for supporting and optimizing facility systems such as power, water, compressed air, lighting, gas, HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and related utilities.
The position also leads infrastructure and equipment-related projects, supports preventive and corrective maintenance strategies, manages utility performance and spend, and serves as a key technical partner to Production, Maintenance, Plant Operations, contractors, and Engineering teams. Based on plant needs, this role may also support manufacturing equipment and process-related systems.
Senior Facilities Engineer
USA, Decatur, AL
Provide technical expertise on plant layout, utility distribution, connections into and out of the facility, and troubleshooting of facility operational issues.
Oversee the effective operation, utilization, and reliability of facility support systems and building infrastructure, including:
Lighting, Air compressors, Electrical systems, including breaker maintenance, Plumbing, Vacuum pumps, Fire sprinkler systems, Chillers and cooling towers, HVAC systems, Boilers and heaters, Process waste systems, Drainage systems, Dock doors, Roofing, Fans, Backup generators
Monitor utility consumption and support efforts to minimize and control utility usage.
Support safe operation of all facility systems in compliance with plant standards and applicable regulations.
Perform Process Safety Management (PSM) Lead duties as the mechanical system integrity owner for the Refrigerant R600 Isobutane System.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in maintenance, facilities management, mechanical engineering, or a related manufacturing support role.
Gas detection systems, Lower Explosive Limit (LEL), Fire triangle concepts, Flammability and flashpoint, Explosion and fire risks, Critical operating parameters and safety limits, Safety systems and interlocks,
Basic understanding of machining and maintenance-related processes, including turning, milling, welding, grinding, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
Strong leadership capabilities, including interpersonal, facilitation, communication, and team-building skills.
