Community Roots offers residential and community services to adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities. We provide tailored supports that promote belonging, connection, and growth to develop each individual's unique strengths and full potential.

We are seeking a caring, passionate, energetic individual to be a Live-In Companion for a female client who lives in her own 2 bedroom apartment at The Grove in Broomfield. This is a wonderful opportunity to develop a meaningful relationship with someone needing support and friendship as well as receiving affordable housing in Boulder County! Live-In Provider will have their own bedroom with a private attached bath and will share the other bathroom and general living areas of the 2 bedroom apartment with the client.

The role of a Live-In Companion involves living in-residence with our client and providing connection, friendship, and support with life skills. Support expectations include:

· Spending time in the home together, particularly in the mornings and evenings – sharing meals, watching TV, doing puzzles, activities, etc.

· Helping maintain an active lifestyle with diverse exercise opportunities and healthy eating habits

· Assistance with transportation to/from work, day program, community activities.

· Grocery shopping and preparing healthy meals.

· Assistance with housekeeping and cleaning including supporting the client to develop independence with these skills.

· Support with maintaining the client’s calendar and schedule.

· Support cleaning and maintaining client’s CPAP machine.

· Filling medication reminder box and ensuring client takes her medications.

· Completing monthly documentation for agency compliance.

Qualifications:

Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and a willingness to provide transportation to client in your own vehicle.
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 1-2 years related experience.
Must be willing to undergo and pass a criminal background check.
First Aid/CPR and Medication Administration Certification Required (Community Roots will provide if needed).
Must love dogs as client has 2 dogs that visit regularly and sometimes spend the night.

Client’s family and Community Roots will provide ample client specific training and ensure that the Live-In Companion and the client are a positive match for each other. We look forward to talking with you more about the position and answering questions you may have!

Pay: Up to $5185.46/month with 1 weekend off monthly and options for respite as needed/desired.

How would you handle if the first month was a hard adjustment? Sometimes new living situations can be hard. How would you deal with potential conflicts?
This job is a 24/7 care position where you'll become very close with the family and need to communicate readily with them. Are you comfortable navigating family dynamics and do you feel confident bringing concerns to the agency if they come up with?
In live in positions, it can take time to get to know one another and decide if its a match. Sometimes a minimal commitment helps that process. Are you willing to commit to trying the live in situation for at least 6 months? Why or why not?
What is your experience with caregiving? Have you been a live in before? Do you have any experience working with I/DD or a related field?
This job will involve regular coordination with a residential agency, the client and her family and other supports. Are you comfortable attending meetings with her team and being a part of that team on a regular basis?
This job will include monthly paperwork and 1 monthly visit. The paperwork is very easy but needs to be completed each month in a timely manner. Are you comfortable with regular paperwork and feel you could complete it and meet once monthly with the residential agency for check-ins? Why or why not?
