Full Job Description

BDC / Customer Retention & Trade-Up Specialist

Riley Subaru is looking for a motivated, organized, and personable BDC / Customer Retention & Trade-Up Specialist to join our sales team. This is not a traditional internet lead BDC position. Fresh internet leads will continue to be handled by our sales team. The primary focus of this role will be working our existing customer database, with a strong emphasis on our Trade Up Advantage program, reconnecting with current and previous customers, identifying opportunities, and setting quality showroom appointments for our sales team.

What You'll Be Doing

Make outbound calls to customers in our existing database
Work our Trade Up Advantage customer opportunities
Identify customers who may be in a position to upgrade or trade their current vehicle
Reconnect with previous customers and owners who have not recently been engaged
Follow up with unsold showroom customers
Re-engage older and aged customer opportunities
Follow up with missed and canceled appointments
Work orphan customers whose previous salesperson is no longer with the dealership
Contact selected service customers when appropriate
Send follow-up texts and emails as part of the appointment-setting process
Set specific dates and times for showroom appointments
Confirm upcoming appointments and help reduce no-shows
Maintain accurate notes and follow-up activity in the CRM
Communicate appointments and customer information clearly to the sales team

Performance will be measured by:

We are more interested in quality appointments that show and buy than simply generating a high number of appointments.

Create quality conversations that turn into showroom appointments and sold vehicles.

Vehicles sold from BDC-generated appointments

What We're Looking For

Automotive experience is helpful, but not required. Experience in customer service, appointment setting, call centers, inside sales, hospitality, or other phone-heavy positions can translate very well to this role.

Comfortable spending a significant portion of the day on the phone
Confident and professional when speaking with customers
Positive, persistent, and goal-oriented
Organized and able to manage multiple follow-up opportunities
Comfortable texting, emailing, and working inside a CRM
Competitive and motivated by measurable results
Reliable and consistent
Able to communicate effectively with both customers and the sales team

What This Role Is Not

This position is not responsible for handling fresh internet leads.

It is also not a vehicle sales position where you are expected to negotiate or close the entire transaction over the phone.

Your job is to create the opportunity, build interest, and get the customer into the dealership. Once the customer arrives, our sales team will take over the in-store sales process.

We have a large customer base of people who already know Riley Subaru, own vehicles we would like the opportunity to trade for, or may be ready for something newer.

Rather than waiting for those customers to come back to us, this role allows us to proactively create opportunities and strengthen our relationships with existing customers.

You will have a direct impact on dealership traffic, appointments, trades, and sales, and your results will be easy to see.
